I played the demo and the story looks pretty good however the gameplay falls flat. It's designed for multiple players going through the missions in the campaign which to me kills the immersion of the story.

Had they designed this solely for single player I might have picked this up. However they didnt so to me its just a rental.

I tried out the fire class making a new character that was female this time just to see the differences. The acting is word for word, animation for animation in the cutscenes. It's very odd to watch as the main character acts like a guy in those scenes. Then the voice of my character did not match at all. It was a deeper feminine voice and physically you could tell the voice didn't match the character. It was odd.

As for the fire class itself, it's nowhere near as fun as the trickster class. The first power was a wide "river" of fire the flows a few dozen feet ahead of you. The second power was using a fire rope looking thing to steal health from an enemy.

I was not impressed with my second character or their abilities at all.

Being the game won't be a service based game, will it have enough to keep coming back? I just don't see if holding up being a short game and seeing world tiers just throw out tougher enemies with mix of altered abilities.

I do like that you're getting the complete game and not waiting on other elements to be released down the road.

Noticed they also worked with MS PlayFab, def. See this game coming to Gamepass soon after release.

Edit: watched a stream tonight where they showed endgame(extractions) and customization. This is going to be one heck of a game and fully featured right out the gate.

Was actually kind of fun, not as bad as I was expecting.

Cutscenes have a really annoying shaky came....shaky would be an improvement, this is more just "unsteady cam".

This has the ugliest and most generic levels i have seen in a game in a long while. Any more bland than this and we're in the Ride To Hell Retribution territory.

@Pedro: ugh. That's bad. When you have a brief demo, that's not the way to use people's time

That isn't even close to being true... the first hour or so of the game has a lot of cutscenes and lore to get you caught up on what is going on, but once you hit world tier 2 or 3 and hit level 3 or 4 most of that stops and the game really opens up.

I keep telling people that you just can't judge this game based upon the first hour+ of the game...

I know a lot of people want to instantly jump into the action, but that comes shortly after the slow start and it's fast paced and a lot of fun.

This game is getting some serious unjust hate and is one of the most fun co-op shooters I've played in quite some time. Give it an hour or two and get to a boss or two, or at least a captain. The higher the world tier the higher the challenge, number of enemies, better drops, more abilities, etc.

I've been playing as the trickster and it's a lot of fun. My biggest complaint is the long range gameplay since the aim at range can be wonky and not too precise even with the most perfected settings. However, the close range classes feel great. This game just needs to work on the aim and getting back into missions faster without traveling back to town every time. If they fix those two things this game would be absolutely great.

As it stands now I think people just need to get their world tier to at least 3 or 4, get their level to 4 or 5, and play with a group to up the challenge and number of enemies before making further judgements. The boss fights in groups are awesome.

Not only is it full of cutscenes, but said cutscenes are so poor. Reminds me of those noname Steam games with a $1000 budget.

Easy there buddy, you may upset some people. 😂

Nah, the cutscenes and voice acting are pretty rough, but the gameplay is fun.

Killed the electric boss and its just too paintful to continue. This is Godfall with guns lol. People Can Fly saw the money printing of Destiny, and just like EA, tried to tip their toes into this GaaS shit. What a disaster. The only good things i can say is that the powers (i played pyro) were decent and the skill tree is reasonably large for possible build variety. Everything else with no exceptions is bottom tier 3/10 to 4/10 worthy. And just like Anthem, weapons don't have any impact to them. Feels like shooting a toy gun. Awful game.

And my multiplayer is completely broken so i couldn't even try it.

That sucks man.. multiplayer makes the game so much better. I don't really like it much at all solo. To me it's pretty clear they intended this game to be played with others. The bosses and enemies are harder, more plentiful, have better drops, do more damage, and seem to have better AI in a group... it doesn't really make much sense. It's like they stripped the difficulty and fun from single player.

Actually from tier 4 and further, the difficulty becomes decent. Since i have nothing else to play, i'll just finish the demo. My multiplayer might be bugged because i turned crossplay on? I dunno.

Why should a gamer need to wait over an hour to get into the real game? The core distinction of gaming to other mediums like movies, books and music is interactivity. If we were to flip it and movie lovers needed to play a game for one hour before the movie starts, they would be turned off. Game developers need to respect the time of gamers. It should not be the job of the gamer to persevere in hopes that they like the game but the game to engage the player as soon as possible.

Beat the demo. With how bland every single level looks like, there better be a ton of content. This kind of level design reminds me of Nioh. When someone asks how long is Nioh, the answer is 50h+, but in those 50h+ all you're doing is replaying the same maps starting from every corner. Outriders suffers from the exact same problem.

Demo 4/10.

I like the concept and it feels slightly more action oriented than Mass Effect but there's quite some jank surrounding the game.

I wish it was cooked a bit more.

I'm okay with the idea of mildly grinding same instances but with new gear.

I've never played Destiny and those bullet sponge Ubi games though so I probably have lower standards when it comes to fantasy/sci-fi looter shooters.

This is true for everything. If you're not liking a movie within 30 minutes, don't bother with it. If you don't enjoy a book within the first few chapters, you probably won't like it at the last chapter.

With that said, I don't think Outriders is that bad, it just has some quality issues. I believe someone called it "Eurojank" in another thread, that sort of diamon-in-the-rough quality that a lot of Piranha Bytes games have, to use an example.

I won't be playing Outriders as I am not much of a shoot-n-loot fan, but as far as the genre goes I enjoyed my first two hours with it a lot more than I enjoyed my 10 hours in Destiny 2.

I'm playing my second class right now and so far, what I'm realizing is it feels like a Bloodborne shooter. You get so much health for damaging and killing, I am rarely at cover.

It also feels significantly less janky when you rarely use cover.

Another mediocre title driven into the AAA market. Boring Gears combat combined with a crap story. It works, but then you have to ask "why?"

I enjoyed the demo. I did pick trickster class and appreciated how I rarely needed to be in cover. Story is already more interesting than all my time in Destiny and the characters actually are characters. Worth buying? Nah, have to wait for release date reviews. But I won’t write it off yet.

Got every class to at least lvl 6, Trickster is lvl 7 with 20-30 hours into the demo. So far Outriders is probably my favorite looter shooter.

Honestly this is the game I wish Destiny would be, a FRAKING 3RD PERSON WITH LOOT. Yes there's some issues like audio syncing and the god awful camera shaking during cutscenes but so far I'm enjoying the story, classes look very interesting even though the cap in the demo is at lvl 7 and we're only WL5 instead of WL15 which is the cap for the game when it comes out. Guns feel amazing with certain mods and the class abilities feel fun which most looters now and days just half ass their class abilities and not make them fun.

As for fun factor for classes, Trickster = bestie, Devastator = pretty fun when you go Neo from Matrix mode, Pyromancer = meh..kinda fun, Techy = so so but can be boring but looks like it's a late bloomer.

Not sure how to properly play it but its my least favorite class. It's too squishy specially on the the hardest optional quest but if you're on pc, just stay far and easily headshot anything. I find that very hard to do with a controller.

Because this game is triggering me, i decided to download the demo on pc and try Devastator. No idea how this is even possible, but maxed out, this game looks blurrier on my pc than ps5. I heard this game has a forced DLSS, but i am on a 1070, so it shouldn't be active?

Its not motion blur, tho. Everything looks very fuzzy like a game using FXAA would be.

I just played the demo for an hour and here's my summary:

Imagine you went to the bar with your buddies to have a drink and all they had was milk.

Sure, you still get to hang with your friends..................but its just not the same is it?

Now wrap that up and sell it on Steam.

I completely agree man, to this point this is my favorite looter shooter I have ever played. It has so much potential... I hope they add big chunks of DLC to keep this game alive and that is does well so that it spawns sequels.

I also agree that this is the game I was hoping Destiny would be.

Sure it's a little rough around the edges, but I also applaud the balls of the devs to release the demo to all. That tells me they are confident they have a good game and are proud of what they created and I really respect that.

Cutscenes and when you interact to someone to talk to them it appears like it's running at 20fps.

cutscenes are in 30fps with a stupid shaky cam, so yea, its bad. Blurry visuals, tho i don't know what with that.

It looks like they fixed the multiplayer, so i've joined half a dozen of random games. I haven't seen a game this laggy for over a decade. You're rubber banding all over the place. When one shotting an enemy with a shotty, there's a 1sec delay before you see the animation of the enemy exploding into bits. This kind of lag reminds me of Gears of War in 2006 what the ****.

If this is not fixed, this game is guaranteed to fail to have a community.

And this is what i meant when i said that the game looks blurry as shit. Everything is set to ultra, too (full screen the character).

@hardwenzen: Not had much lag when I’ve joined friends so far, hopefully they sort out the issues with the blurry graphics
