I have a PS3 and Wii. I've played over 40 of the top games this gen and I only liked 3. I ownCOD456, fallout, heavenly sword, GTA4, Bayonetta, God of war3, God or war collection, Ratchet and clank ACIT, Brutal Legend, Killzone 2, Resident evil 5,SOCOM, Assassins Creed 12, Dantes inferno, final fantasy13, Red dead, Uncharted 12, MGS4, Mario galaxy 12, Metroid prime 3.

I've bought alot of games this gen just to find myself tossing them aside after anhour or two of gameplay. The only games I realy enjoyed is MGS4 and the uncharted series. The rest I couldn't bring myself to finish. I guess I buy games looking for the right experiance and find myself disapointed alot. What I liked most about MGS4 was the variety in which you could go about your objective. It seems to me most games lack creativity and creativity is the main reason I play games. Too me it seems games are becoming genaric.

Anyone else feel this way?

Sounds like you need to do a better job of looking up games before you buy them. :\

I watch reviews and stuff but most games I buy hoping to find somethingI'll like. Some games look cool but after playing them they get repetative and stuff like that.

The next games I play on getting is castlevania los and twisted metal.

I dont see halo 3 or lost odyssey on that list those are your first 2 mistakes right there. Halo for the best multiplayer experience and LO for the best jrpg experience. Id also reccomend dragon age for the best wrpg experience and halo reach for the best FPS experience. It seems your not playing the best games its respected genre has to offer

I'm not a big fan of first person shooter. I played the first two halos. I bought a PS3 because of it's first party variety. I can't justify buying a 360 for just one or two games like halo or gears. To me most shooters are all the same.

Demon souls aint my thing Idon't want to pull my hair out dieing over and over. Repetavive games annoy me. Heavenly rain is to realistic graficaly and I like artwork in my games. Valkyria looks to animeish.

The last 5 or so years the games I liked the best are Zelda TP, RE4, MGS4 and uncharted. I prefer games like zelda but there arent many out there. I passed on dragon age 1 because I didn't like the art design but 2 looks better. I might check that one out.

I don't know what to say, dude. Those are some great games you've listed.

Actually, I do. Buy a SNES and Genesis, or just download some VC games on your Wii, and enjoy some of the best games ever made. They don't make them like that anymore. You know...challenging.

Same will happen to you with PC, after some time you realise PC is just wasting money on upgrades for games that all the same.

Doubt it, i never upgrade, just buy a new PC and unlike some i do not have to play max all the time on every game. Only reason i replaed my old duel core/8800gts (which i bought pre PS3) was beause i got sick of sharing with my kids lol. That pc would have lasted me until next console gen easily.

I dont know if it is only the PC market that changed over the years or my taste in gaming but i feel like the good PC-days is over. I only have a dual core and i was in thoughts of upgrade but ended up buy a PSP instead. I cant live without a PC but i sure can live without a highend gaming rig.

Personally i love it, more than ever. I still buy heaps of console games but mainly for my kids to play. I just love PC and so many games just keep me hooked.

True, but with all the recommendations for him to move to PC gaming, he doesn't want to. So by all means (technically), I'd say he is hard to satisfy.

it was a suggestion, other people suggested it too. He basically listed most the games console gamers like, and stated he didnt like most of them. Myself, I didnt like most of those games either, and liked the previous console generation a lot more as well.

I think you should play assassins creed 2 or batman AA, i was where you were once and i borrowed a few games from mates and Batman got me in the mood again, just remember to take things slowly. btw if those dont work sounds like you need either a break(book) or a good story (RPG).

This has got to be the most reasonable thread for a LONG while

EDIT: never mind about AC2 just read your post again

I find it interesting that so many of the games you list are sequels of other games you said you didn't enjoy. Why get both AC games if you didn't like the first?

As for game suggestions, 3D.Game Heroes has a nice retro Zelda feel, Batman AA has some good variety and lots of extras. I would also recommend looking at some of the lesser known Wii 3rd party stuff for a few hidden gems. Perhaps it would be best to start picking up games after they've had a few price drops, like Mirrors Edge or Bioshock whick are only $20. THey're different from the norm but if you don't like them, you're not out too much.

Yeah i agree, try out Valkyria Chronicles it is so good. I am so glad i picked it up, i feel foolish that i didn't buy it at release, the game flopped in sales but coming up to one of my favorite game this gen.

After hearing about the posibility of VC3, i decide to erase my saved games and start a new one yesterday, and i have to say, the first 3 missions were as good as the first time i played, it is really that good.

So, yeah, you should try this game TC.

Anyway, the only games i haven't finished are Okami, RDR, and NMH, so thankfully, i'm not in your situation, you should try different things like WiiWare or PSN titles.

shadowcat2576

This. Why would you buy the God of War collection and God of War 3 if you didn't like God of War when you played it? Or why would you buy Dante's Inferno afterwards for that matter?

It seems to me by looking through the thread TC you won't play a game if you don't like the art direction. Sometimes, even if you don't like the art direction, it is something you have to deal with to be shown a good game. Dragon Age: Origins is a fantastic game, and many people here have said Valkyrie Chronicles is another terrific game. I would also recommend Darksiders for its Zelda-ish gameplay, 3D-Dot Game Heroes, and Dead Space.

I think gamefly would be your best friend. You can try out all the games you want with out wasting 60 bucks on each one. If you like said game then you can go and actually buy it from gamefly or at another store of your choosing.

I dont see halo 3 or lost odyssey on that list those are your first 2 mistakes right there. Halo for the best multiplayer experience and LO for the best jrpg experience. Id also reccomend dragon age for the best wrpg experience and halo reach for the best FPS experience. It seems your not playing the best games its respected genre has to offerbigboss5ak

If he wants to try out VC, he should download the demo from PSN. That is how I tried it and later on bought the game.

I think you will find that the answe to your problem lies with the Devs and Pubs TC.

This gen have been all about making games with mass appeal, but by doing so, by making games everyone can swallow, and understand, that is not complex or requite deeper thoughts, the games will rarely excite, they really have lacked all personality quirkness, good ideas, and interresting worlds.

The best ames this gen have all been niché games made for a small audience, they happen to have more fleshed out worlds, deeper gameplay mechanics, and a focus not on ease of use, but rather on if it fits the context of teh gameworld, and the themes, and morale of the story told.

It holds true for all games this gen across platforms, dull mediocre, dumbed down dribble (what PC gamers usually call consolisation, but really is more of aiming at the lowest common denominator. And is not an actural tradeoff of games comming to console, but the increased demographic gaming has gotten this gen)

Let us be honest, a 2 year old child with ADHD could follow the stories of the games this gen, and all characters have been made generic and blank so no one would be put off by them, and the majority could slip into said characters motivations (which usually evolves around "duuuh, me go kill bad guy, because me good" And gameplay mechanics so shallow that anyone could understand them within 2 minutes. (and yes people that IS bad, because it really kill the oh so lovely word "immersion" and the context of the entire game.

It really is sickening, There arevery few games I cared for this gen, all of them have been nich'e games, who targeted a specific audience, and told a story they really wanted to tell, but most of tehm are so generic and soulless to the point whereI have come to inspect every game so painfully close.

Andmost of teh games have tryied to copy the way movies go, which is also wrong in my mind, sinceIconsider moveis and games polar opposites.

Bestbet TC is to look at the Playstation, and try looking a niché games, the games that were made for a specific audience. There are a few, and they are enjoyable.

Oh dear, there I went, ranting again -.-
