it's happened before, and chances are likely that all the lemmings will pile into xbl at the same time and bring it to its knees. so what good is the xbl fee? other than for lining m$ pockets?

A year or 2 ago (I don't remember when exactly) Xbox Live crashed around christmas because of the sudden rush of people using it. TO compensate, M$ let every one download a certain game for free.
It happened 2 years ago. I remember it clearly as my (ex)-girlfriend got Xbox Live and couldn't get connected and when I went over to her house to recover my gamertag, it got lost in some Xbox Live nebulae and I couldn't get it back for a week. It was a crappy experience that haunts my Ghost of Christmas PastBeen gaming on Xbox Live for over five years and I don't recall that incident.

problem for xboys who will have to boo hoo their way thru the 5 hour MW2 campaign again because their online no worky. If it happens, your consolation prize will be PSN, where nobody will be playing. Anyway, don't count on it.[QUOTE="chikenfriedrice"][QUOTE="hairy_bubblegum"]

players online which seems to be the case with psn :?
I'd say the chances are slim. The xbl outage happened 2 years ago, and didn't happen last year (in part because microsoft was prepared for the surge). I'm looking forward to getting plenty of time in on xbl over the next few weeks without problems. enjoy your PSN experience! say, how's the Killzone community doing?shaggygrosser
its doing pretty awesome, lots of good games going on there last night. i played for a couple hours with a lot of skilled players (well, better than me thats for sure)
Well, MW2 did break PSN when it released.. Guess Xbox Live servers can handle more than PSN :)Well this year there is no Halo 3 or CoD4 so i wouldent worry too much
CoD6 alone? dont make me laughhot114

Xbox Live crashed one day because of everyone logging into Halo 3 simultaneously. That was fixed a few hours later, and hasn't happened since.it's happened before, and chances are likely that all the lemmings will pile into xbl at the same time and bring it to its knees. so what good is the xbl fee? other than for lining m$ pockets?

wow! this is what its come down to, bashing Microsoft on what if scenarios! :|
If it does, everyone will get another free arcade game like we did the last time. Oh well... :)it's happened before, and chances are likely that all the lemmings will pile into xbl at the same time and bring it to its knees. so what good is the xbl fee? other than for lining m$ pockets?

Xbox Live crashed one day because of everyone logging into Halo 3 simultaneously. That was fixed a few hours later, and hasn't happened since. It was actually down for a month - month and a half.probably not, but it has happened so i guess anything is possible. paying for a service that may crash.InfiniteBlakI know you guys think it only happens to Live, and anything with MS's name on it, but it can happen to any service you pay for.

AS for that we have here...Xbox live, a 30-50 dollar a year service with so many members that some times at its peak times during the holiday part of the year its brought to its knees from the 10-20 million people logging on... its usually back up quickly though.
then we have psn...a free service that couldn't get that many users even if sony paid you to get online...if it ever was taken down by sheer user numbers id be down for 5 months cause sony sucks at the software end of things.
