About 280,000 units, I think. It'll be on sale for just two weeks in the slowest month of the year, so I think that even those numbers, as low as they might seem, will be highly impressive.
Why set the mark so high ? We're talking about a $249+ handheld in a midFebruary release by a doomed company. Over unders are supposed to set right on the realistic line.
Does the general public even know the Vita exists? Almost everyone knew about the "3D DS" and everytime I walked into BestBuy there'd be plenty of people crowding around the demo units. In contrast, people don't even know what the Vita is, they'd think it was a vitamin supplement.

I have been seeing a whole bunch of Taco Bell commercials promoting the Vita. Talking about somebody winning a Vita every 15 minutes.
I little under 1 million I think. Around 800k I think.

Are you all high? The 3DS had like three times the marketing and awareness (even though mot of it positioned the system as yet another DS revision), and it sold, what, 400,000 units? The PS Vita has nothing. It's the successor to a system that has been dead in the territory for three years, it has no brand awareness, people don't even know it exists, and it's releasing in the worst, slowest month of the year for game sales. Tell me why the Vita will sell so much again?
Ahh, ESPN. That alone made my trip worth it. In Canada all we get is garbage hockey talk. It was NHL All Star weekend and not a second of hockey talk. I might have to move to the US lol.
I would have said under before, because sony seemed adamant not to market it at all. But now almost every gamestop and best buy in the U.S. have demo units. People were fawning over the one at my gamestop and interest has skyrocketed.
It may do over 500,000. Though even if it didn't, I don't think it would be a sign of a bad launch, just a launch in the middle of Febuary. Seriously, what a horrible time to launch a $250 handheld.

I would say Sony's products sell well the first week independent of how it will do in the future, no matter what the price is.
Just the fact that PS3 had more preorders than Wii on amazon with a price difference of $350 blows my mind.
They have a weird fanbase of people in their 20s and 30s who stand in line day one no matter what.
So I think it will do 'well' but the first month sales will be misleading and drop significantly next month instead of slowly decreasing, so it's not before we see the March numbers we'll have a clear picture of how it will do in the upcoming months.
oh it should tick over 500,000 in its first month. the first week sales will probably be very strong (getting pretty close to 500,000). even if it does collapse in sales after that it should still creep over 500,000. if it doesnt then sony will seriously have to consider either a price drop or a bundle. like japan however i suspect the 3G version will be DOA.
