I thought this was an interesting read tbh. Talk about a win-win situation for Rockstar. 75 mill plus the 360 version dominated sales charts.

Now, you see, paying a dev to bring a game to your console is a good thing, as that actually expands the library. The game probably suffered because of this if it is true, but whatever, gameplay sucked anyway.
This is far more respectable than paying to make something exclusive that would have been on your system anyway.
Pachter needs to just leave the industry. Sony had an exclusive deal with Rockstar during the PS2 era that ended during an October (don't remember the specific year but it was during the PS2/Xbox/GC era). Pretty much right when GTA3 and all the other were being put on Xbox. Since then, as far as I know, there has been no exclusive deals.
And, really, does anyone believe Rockstar would pass on the 360 userbase when it had a far larger userbase at the time that GTAIV was released? Get real. Pachter is quite possibly the worst analyst alive.
that's why MS charge live fee. $40-60 an year with 20 millions users. That the funding to bribe 3rd party companies making games on 360.
So Xbox 360 usrs should be happy to pay live fee. You not only pay to unlock online gaming but aslo get games on 360 platform. Otherwise, Xbox 360 is going to be like sega saturn

1. Sony has paid to have games on their console as well. This is nothing new to the industry if it were true. It isn't in this case though.
2. XBL is $50/year. There is no $40-60 deal. It's $50/year...that's how it is. And there are more than 25 million users at this point, much like PSN. Get over it.
3. 360 is going to be like Sega Saturn? I don't even know how to respond to this. It's so utterly idiotic that it astounds me that you actually believe what you are saying. I own a Sega Saturn and despite enjoying it, it really wasn't all it was cracked up to be. It is so far from being in the 360's situation that it's sad. I think you should join Pachter as his aid or something. You two would get along famously.
Stop trying. This is a good thing for gamers, and you're trying so hard to make it a bad thing - when all it means is we as consumers get the games we want.that's why MS charge live fee. $40-60 an year with 20 millions users. That the funding to bribe 3rd party companies making games on 360.

Don't think PSN has 20million users most people have mutiable accounts I have 3 one for all the major regions.[QUOTE="oajlu"]

1. So? The point was for this article that Microsoft paid lots of $$$ so that Sony wouldn't have GTA IV as an exclusive.
2. In Canada it's actually 60, and in UK, its 40.
3. It's true. If M$ didn't bribe all these companies to make games for their console, there would be nothing on it. Gears, Halo, GTA IV, FF13... There would be nothing at all worth buying. In conclusion,

I think you fail for putting halo in your list.If you are referring to the fact that Halo is owned by MS then:
Technically he is correct. Microsoft did buy Bungie and made them stop making games for Apple. :)
Otherwise:
Nevermind.

Yeah but |I guess that means that Sony bribed developers to have games like Uncharted 1 and 2, Killzone, Socom etc. Money makes the world go round oddly enough. That sounds about right. MS could of taking that money and had one of there few FP developers make a awesome new IP.djsifer01
That IP wouldn't have done nearly as much for the system as GTA4.
The market is dominated by casuals, not core gamers. Not to mention that GTA is a huge title. It was a smart choice on Microsoft's behalf for two reasons, one, they gave a great game to 360 owners and two, if it wasn't for GTA4 being multiplat on Day 1, the 360 probably would have suffered the same fate as Xbox 1.
