I'm starting to think we need a "This is not the Blue-ray v.s. HD-DVD Forum" sticky.

This sounds familiar but no matter how many times it's said, cows still won't accept it.

"Bell: If there's an overflow of bonus material, we'll just go to another disc. That's not an issue for consumers. In some cases, they consider that it has more value. It's done routinely in DVD. Why put every single title on a high-capacity disc if it doesn't need it?"

Money, money and more money.

Someone paid the companies big money to make them exclusive to HD DVD. Obviously this may be entitled "gifts". ;)

sum up: the bigger 50gig doesn't matter in the long run because 95% of movies are 2.25 hours long less than the 30 gig hd-dvd max disk. The code for blue ray is hard. Hd-dvd is cheaper to manufacture. Basically all the reasons they went with hd-dvd.

30GB HD-DVD discs are more expensive to produce in large quantities than 25GB Blu-Ray discs. :| Also Blu-Ray has better scratch protection.

Oh yes, obviously they are doing it for the money, i mean why else would they NOT release on BOTH platforms, and instead limit themselves to a platform that as far as I know, hasn't even sold nearly as much hardware as its competition. On a more serious note, whether they got paid to go exclusive to HD-DVD or not, they are still going to lose money in the long run by NOT selling on both mediums, unless of course they are confident that HD-DVD will surpass and ultimately end Blu-ray's run.

Bu ray is out selling HDDVD movies 2 to 1. Blu-ray is better and will win ultimately if things keep going the way they are. Its sad that Microsoft is keeping this format war going on simply because they have the money. Other wise the consumers have already spoken and Blu ray it is.

did any of you know that HD-DVD players were $800-900 when they first came out? The whole price point is ridiculous. this war just started and blu-ray has already dropped 50% in 6 months.

 do research

look at the specs
