I vote for pay .

If we didn't pay year fees , MS would need to shut down games servers in order to save money . So unlike on the Playstation Network , in 2 years , 360 owners will still be able to play Every Multiplats/Exclusives/Cross-plat games ( including Xbox games ) online while PS3 owners won't even be able to play MGS4 online anymore .(MGS3 online ( AKA MGO ) kind of prove this )

And for those who want to bring the "PC games been running for years and for free " . Well , we're not talking about PCs . Unlike PCs where players host games on theyr computers , console gamers create games that are hosted on the Companies servers ( which cost them money and ......)

Please serious comments .( can always dream  )

If I am paying for a good service, I shall pay. Free is always good, but if you know you going to get something great at a good deal, pay is equally as good.

Depends on the price and what I get for it.

Game companies run their own games's online. Sony won't need to worry about shutting anything down.

Don't pay.

I refuse to even pay a cent for it. Not because I'm cheap (at least not just because of that... >.>), but because of the principle of it. I don't even need online to enjoy a game. But if it comes free (like with the Wii), then I might as well benefit from it.

By centralizing their online service, something that is not necessary, you feel that Microsoft is justified in charging fees?

I don't. Decentralized online systems have been proven to provide just as much (if not more) for free.

No. I'm not going to pay more than the original price of a game in order to keep playing. I'm not going to be billed over a freaking video game. The only form of online play I would pay for would be XboxLIVE, and even then I'm having second thoughts in paying $69 (AUS) to buy a 12 month subscription.

I'm going with pay because right now XBL is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. When Sony gets its act together and the Wii finally gets its online going maybe I'll change my mind.

its only $100 for a 12 month subscription in my country....... not that much for good service. But I don't have gold anymore cos our Connection sucks on foreign servers.

I don't mind if some third parties shut down their servers after a year or two. I will play it while it lasts and move on to something else. What I do expect though is great online games from Sony and the best developers like Epic to really support their games. That is free .... that is gold.

It depends: XBL I'll pay for. MMORPGs, I won't pay for.

Are you nuts? Do you really not mind if a game becomes unplayable after a year?
