Anyone excited for it?

Pre-orders of Payday 2 already made back the money that publisher 505 Games provided Starbreeze Studios for development, Starbreeze CEO Bo Andersson-Klint said in a statement to investors (translated by Gamereactor). Payday 2launches on August 13, and any incoming sales are profit to be split between 505 and Starbreeze.

"Today Starbreeze has once again demonstrated that our strategy of focusing on our own properties is correct," Andersson-Klint said. "Not only have we managed to deliver a desirable product in Payday 2 but also executed a promotion that few companies of our size can. We now look forward to the royalty income that can secure the company's development of its own IP in the future. That Payday 2 generates revenue for the company six days before the release is of course very unusual for games of this size and strengthens the long-term nature of our strategy."

Hey, everyone. What day is it? Payday.joystiq

Maybe they can use all that money to make it look not like a game from 2005.

Why? The game looks fine and seems to play great and people like it

Making it ultra real looking won't change much

I see this argument all the time and my freind, graphics do matter. Especailly when games are aiming for more anatomical realism.

Having played both one and two, the visual leap is minor at best and looks barely above a Halflife 2 mod. If this was sold at budget price the problem would be more forgivable, sadly, at the price point of £29.99, this is what we call "taking the piss".

Fifty Cents video game sold 2 million copies. I guess gameplay isn't very important either.

I might pick it up eventually if my friend doesn't get it for me so I can help him. We've been doing the beta together and it's been alright. There's some annoying bugs that make it frustrating to do full stealth runs, but we have managed--especially on the jewlery store, but we're still working on the bank. Hopefully they improve the levels. A lot of the missions like Four Stores are just boring.

I'm in the same boat as you. Payday looked like a really interesting concept but I decided to wait for Payday 2 as it did have some problems that could be fixed in a sequel.

But now I have this huge backlog that I want to go through so it'll be a while before I get around to buying this.

People do not care about the graphics of Payday 2. They're just looking for a fun game. Just look at the turnaround the game already has. Graphics don't make a game, man.

Aside from the poor graphics and very limited maps the first game is actually fairly good. I enjoyed it more so than left4dead. It does a great job of feeling cinimatic without reducing it to a bunch of unplayable cutscenes like Metal Gear Solid or or games that miss the point of games.

The visuals aren't bad, they're pretty decent. The gameplay and mechanics are what people love and if the visuals aren't distractingly bad then it doesn't matter.

It's not a AAA game so expecting high end visuals is stupid.

You have a very odd way of looking at games

Kind of sad that another shooter will get all these sales but a masterpiece of art known as Dragons Crown will not get nearly the numbers. Why are so many only interested in ,mind numbing multiplayer this gen? I miss the days when creative single player only games were the norm...that ps1 / baldurs gate PC era seems so long ago now... Well at least there is kickstarter.

Let's be honest, Dragon's Crown does nothing groundbreaking. It's a Vanillaware title through and through.

How much did it cost to develop? This is strictly being released through STEAM? Starbreeze Studios are great developers. They made Enclave and both Chronicle of Riddick games. They definitely deserve to make some profit from their games.

This is being released both on steam and in stores. The first one was digital only.

It's made by Overkill Software, which are old employees of Grin. I think Starbreeze is publishing but I'm not sure. Starbreeze just released a new game too by the way: Brothers: a tall of two sons.

edit: Turns out Starbreeze bought Overkill Software:

In 2012, Uppsala, Sweden based game studio Starbreeze Studios bought Overkill and is fully owners of Overkill, Starbreeze is also co-developer on Overkill upcoming sci-fi co-op game Storm.Wikipedia

Eboner confirmed... getting it day one. The beta is awesome... so many logical improvements over the heist.

[QUOTE="lawlessx"][QUOTE="Midnightshade29"]Kind of sad that another shooter will get all these sales but a masterpiece of art known as Dragons Crown will not get nearly the numbers. Why are so many only interested in ,mind numbing multiplayer this gen? I miss the days when creative single player only games were the norm...that ps1 / baldurs gate PC era seems so long ago now... Well at least there is kickstarter.

didn't dragon's crown just come out 2 days ago?

And isn't Dragon's Crown mind-numbing multiplayer, also?
