Paystation 3 or Xbox 360 for 3rd party games? (no fanboys!)

I haven't bought either but I like PS3's exclusive library way more although I do prefer the 360's superb operating system and imo controller (also the 360 controller seems to be the only one I have ever seen at gaming conventions) but back to the point. If i'm going to spend every bit of my free time getting achievments or trophies I don't want to have to do it it on PS3 and 360 because its way too time consuming but it would be pointless to start another Xbox 360 vs. Playstation 3 thread that only generates more opinions on which console is better so i'm just wondering if either one of these is dominate whether it be slightly or major for 3rd party games.Help me decide what I should do with be unbiased as possible, which I kinda hinted in (no fanboys!) lol.

when it comes to 3rd party games the 360 offers a wider library than the 360, the differences in terms of performance are similar, just sometimes devs don't bother "understanding" the hardware of the ps3, so you see games like RDR running in sub-hd and graphics sacrifices on the ps3.

also, there are very big games that need multiple discs that are a better fit for ps3, because on the 360 the devs need to cram all that data into dvd's which can only store up to 6.8 gb each.. so sometimes they need to compress all this data in order to put it in 1-2 discs.

I prefer 360 for multiplats because of the controller and XBL. Also it doesn't hurt that most multiplats tend to run better or look better.

The only multiplatform games I've purchased on the PS3 have been ones that were noticeably better - so far that list consists of Final Fantasy XIII and Dragon Age, although you could argue Dragon Age runs a little worse on the PS3 despite looking better.DJ_Lae

I don't think you can make an issue out of the graphics. The difference is hardly noticeable and some games run better on one or the other. Most games run the same on the consoles. Some multiplats even run the same on pc (allthough only a few).

What is right is the controller , i bought the x360 3 years ago because i couldn't afford a pc and i love fps games.With a ps3 controller i wouldn't like em anymore especially when playing multiplayer.The x360 controller surprised , it was actually nice playing fps with this allthough I really prefer mouse and keyboard.

If I could change now I would buy a ps3 because now i have a decent pc and i played all of the x360's exclusives lol. Ps3 has a couple of games i would really like to play. They have a lot of games that score very high. Still If i wouldn't have a decent pc i wouldn't even think about buying a ps3 just for that controller.

I agree, except for the fact that I like the PS3's interface a bit better than the 360's. I liked the blade menu the 360 had before, but they changed it to an inverted PS3 menu with bigger more annoying icons and a less customizable look.

Where you have the majority of your friends? You want them to see your trophies or achievements don't you? There you go.

I'm just pointing out that many Xbox 360 multiplatforms tend to look better than their Playstation 3 counterparts which is the truth. And the Playstation 3 can't mop the floor with my games, I'm a hermit ;).

I owned both at one time and only a PS3 now...but 360 clearly wins that comparison hands down. Few, and I mean few, 3rd party titles are equal for PS3. Some are far worse!Rarely you'll get a better version on PS3, but that's only do to a single disc vs multiples.

Except it is the truth, just let it go. And no I am not a lemming, psn- Xsatyr. I have both consoles and most multiplat games look and run better on 360.

Bioshock 2 on PS3 isn't even nearly as quality/good as Bioshock 1 on 360...just saying.

360 games tend to have the advantage in graphics and performance. I also prefer 360´s controller but that´s just a metter of opinion.

I don't think quality or performance is really an issue. I have played on the ps3 and to me it's exactly tesame as the x360. I have an X360 myself but i'm a pc-monkey. Like i mentioned before i bought an x360 3 years ago because i couldn't afford a pc that could match the performance of the x360 for the same price.

Anyway i don't know about the ps3 exclusives (i haven't played em ... yet) but a lot of them have monsters scores. I do know one thing. If you like action rpg's You have to play mass effect 1 (which isn't on playstation) and you have to play fable II which isn't on ps3 or pc.

360, the multiplats are practically identical now but usually a small bit better on 360 whether is be a texture, framerate, etc some small thing. Unless there is some extra content/features like DS2 or Portal 2.SaltyMeatballs

PS3 for exclusives, 360 for 3rd party games that reside on both 360 and ps3. 360 exlusives are great too but since were talkign games that are 3rd party, it has to be the console those games run best on, mainly the 360.
