http://www.videogamer.com/pc/dragon_age_3_inquisition/news/pc_confirmed_as_lead_platform_for_dragon_age_inquisition.html

BioWare is leading development on Dragon Age: Inquisition on PC, the developer has confirmed.

PC is basically our lead platform because we all develop on the PC," producer Cameron Lee told VideoGamer.com earlier this week. "We have these mind-blowing, powerful PCs that are just incredible.

So we develop on that first and foremost and then we keep the other platforms up and running to make sure they don't fall behind.

Most Next gen games will be lead platform on PC's

Doesn't mean the Controls & UI will be optimized for PC's, Bioware tend to be decent with this though, even if DA2 was a crappy console port, the controls & UI felt like a PC game

Err nothing wrong with rpg and a controller. TW2 actually played better with one.

Not necessarily. I assume, it comes down to the fact, that they scale the games for a particular system, and it's running environment, first.

Well, Mass Effect didnt support controller on PC which sucked big time. I was hoping to play that series on the big screen. Had to skip it instead.

Why would developers have dev kits then?

If you recall games that were horribly ported to PC, that was a pretty clear sign those games weren't coded on/for the PC.

Your sig reminds me, I literally just watched Episode 21 of Attack on Titan and it's getting so damn annoying. It's takes them forever to do anything in that show. I enjoyed the show a lot more when I had like 17 episodes all in a row lol

I meant both hardware and software. Aren't console devs supposed to provide tools to game devs in order to make their life easier when making titles for consoole dev's system?

That is pretty much what an SDK is. A suite of programs that allows creators to create applications for various devices etc. What we know as a "dev kit" is a special console that allows devs to run incomplete builds to test how they function on the target hardware. I remember watching an old Fable Dev Diary where they showed a guy playing on a dev kit machine then jumping back to the PC to change some assets.

It will likely play better with kB/m, as they are returning for a more tactical sky approach in combat.

It will look and run better on PC no matter what, thats a given.

I don't know about that. They've said they're bringing back the isometric view from Origins, and as such, I would expect that battle system to be somewhat similar, with the ability to control everyone with a mouse only like Origins.

We can only hope.

It's true I haven't really kept up much on this game. I figured after DA2 they were going to keep the money train going with that idea. I guess despite it selling better than DA1 on the consoles (IIRC) it probably sold less on the PC which I'm sure is where the most money was at for Dragon Age.

I guess we'll see. My original comment wasn't really stated as if it was a "fact". Just kind of an addition I made to the title of the thread given the dev :P

Some of you guys that can't see past DA2 are so short sighted. The Mass Effect series as a whole is great. Jade Empire and KoToR 1/2 were great. I mean has anyone been following the news on Inquisition or do some of you literally just see "Dragon Age" in an articles title and go "DA2 iz teh SUCKZ!!!1!11!1" without even giving it any thought. Inquisition is looking very promising, among my most anticipated of all next-gen titles.

No I mean logic. Not cynicism.

Frostbite 3 is a PC engine first. That's why they ported it to the consoles. It was easy for them to do. It will always look the best on the PC and that's why they'll always show it.

It was meant as a harmless jab at the current state of many blockbusters where even when they're developed PC first often times the UI and mechanics are still designed to fit a controller first and foremost. Don't get too bent out of shape about it.

They make too much dough on consoles dating all the way back to Jade Empire and KoToR.

PC being used as the lead platform means a hell of a lot more than PR talk. This is undeniably obvious, when one looks at games that have been designed on PC first, then ported to consoles, compared to the other way around. If you don't understand that, I'm not going to waste my time explaining it.

Looks alot better than DA2 that's for sure.

And the sceptic in me says that it looks more like a Third-Person action game than anything else, especially with all that dodging around.

Lead for graphics. The controls and gameplay are being designed with the xbox360 pad in mind. The game will suck. Stop hyping please.
