PC Gaming is not perfect, but usually there are no major issues if you have good hardware. I hate broken games, but this also happens on consoles. Sometimes there are driver issues, but these things usually get resolved one way or another. I would rather put up with the occasional issue on PC than put up with consistently shit performance on consoles. 30fps and below is not acceptable.

Its pretty rare to get wholly broken games, unlike the early 2000s (even then it wasn't that bad, not at all). I can't really remember the last time I had a broken unplayable game (barring Arkham Knight but I never bought the game anyway). Most games are patched pretty frequently, even early access games (the popular ones) are frequently patched. Best thing is, even if you got yourself a lemon of a game, other than developer patches, you can also try fixing it yourself or other users usually come up with their own patches. The support forums are almost guaranteed to have someone wiling to share with you tips (not just official forums mind you but gaming hubs etc etc), if the game is any good and have a good playerbase.

OTOH on consoles, if you got yourself a broken game, your SOL.

We are confusing the idea of being able to solve problems with the idea of problems being prevalent.

Consoles have problems, you're f'd. PC's have problems, you can sit there, maybe for hours, to fix it if you want to.

I wanted to comment on this thread but when I saw Mr. Huggles and lostrib arguing, this thread isn't gonna end well.

A couple of generations ago, this would have been a valid point. But consoles seem to have just as many inconsistencies in this regard despite having fixed hardware. At least with a PC, you have a boatload of other features to mitigate the issue.

I can't remember the last time I had problems trying to get a PC game to run or even had issues while a game was already running. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but it's no more prevalent than it is on console these days. And anyway, you get a problem you can't solve you look it up on the internet or wait for a patch it's not exactly difficult.

Anyone who thinks PC gaming is complicated these days needs to spend a few hours on a 386 messing about with DOS commands trying to squeeze a few more bytes of memory out of an autoexec file to get Ultima VII to run then when you finally manage it, it still runs like shit lol.

There is some truth to this. Every platform has its pros and cons.

My android phone is more likely to have an inconsistency than an iPhone .... its still bloody better at pretty much everything. (thought a meek analogy in this case, the different in capabilities between a PC and a PS4 is much larger than those phones).

Sony wins with consistency though ... consistently highway-robbery Digital game prices.... that barely ever go down. Consistently weak PS+ game offerings that cost more than the random humble bundle. (which btw, you keep, not rent).... and PSN remains consistently second to XBOX live ... and ofcourse being consistently a joke compared to open platform online play.

Consoles... consistently mediocre... consistently milking.

I do have to agree PC gaming does have it's faults (Windows 10 sucks arse and is actually worse than Windows 8, more poorly optimized games than consoles cause the diversity of hardware), but with those cons of PC gaming, the pros out weighs the cons.
