Giantbomb gave it a 3/5 which seems about right. Poor MP but with a surprisingly good SP.

The MP does suck, the engine is way to old (no matter how updated) to handle the jumps and wall running. It's felt really bad ever since AW. Factor in the smaller maps and horrendous spawns and its just a cluster f*ck to play.

This series needs a new engine and new netcode if it's going to survive, but I think it might be to late.

COD is finally getting score it deserve.

48/100 seems a bit extreme. As much as I dislike what COD represents, I judge each game based on its own merits. Infinite Warfare does have an enjoyable campaign. That makes the game at least a 6. MP is shit as always.

if modern warfare got this kind of score and panned all over critics. we would not have yearly iteration. and not many FPS games ruined by them.

Modern Warfare was a great game when it came out. I have enjoyed all of the COD campaigns except for BO3 and MW3 was questionable too. I don't go into them with high expectations. It is like going to see a dumb action movie for me. I am not expecting an Oscar worthy movie, but I know it should be entertaining. COD has always done a great job with spectacle, intensity and production values. It has just been milked to death and they have barely changed up the formula. So, Modern Warfare might have been a 9 game back then, but the series is trending more towards the 6-7 range now IMO. It needs a proper reboot.

I do agree that COD has had a very negative influence on the industry though.

modern warfare was not even 9 when it was released. Crysis 1 and Stalker also released same year. former is scripted, linear and walking in straight line where you cant even open door. later are exact opposite.

Modern Warfare was very fun at the time. It was a different take on FPS and it was done really well. There is room for different types of FPS.

I am a bit buffled by the score as the reviewer himself says that the sp campaign is very good an graphics are amazing and perform well. Mp alone shouldnt drive the score so low.

Nobody bought the new COD for Infinite Warfare. Everybody bought it for MW remastered. If you did on the other hand...i'm sorry.

After having played the IW single player campaign I actually agree with PCGAMER review more than with GS's 8. Really awful campaign. And God knows I am pretty tolerant on COD. I could list my rant but I am too tired right now. But be warned, NO BUY. The PC port is good, everything is OK, but SP narrative is bad as hell.

Well, it might have something to do with the campaign being a short 6 hour romp with a muddled script full of plot holes. Of course, I'm just guessing, but it was true about every other campaign for CoD. :P

The MP is the main draw of the series, and 60 dollars for a 6 hour campaign? Well, that's a worse ratio of dollar/hour entertainment than going to see a crappy Hollywood movie.

If the MP is crap, then I can understand why it was scored so low.

I'm waiting for the patch this week to play it.

If the patch doesn't fix it I'm going to have to redownload the game.
