With a significant number of multiplayer titles being either broken or DRM infested ports (Assassin's Creed II, Star Wars:The Force Unleashed, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Grand Theft Auto IV) and your faced with the choice of playing the game on the superior platform (better graphics, and customizable controls) do you choose the console version in favor of having a more polished experience or the PC because of its awesomenss?

(btw I'm a PS3 gamer)

I mostly don't worry about those types of games. There are plenty of high quality, made for PC titles I can enjoy.

Why bother with a bad console port? Do console gamers bother with bad PC ports?

I usually don't bother with those ports, but if a version of a game is superior on console than it's superior. Simple as that.

Knowing my experiences, I have learned to avoid games released by Ubisoft, Aspyr, and Infinity Ward.

Personally, i would say that the PC versions are often more favorable than consoles, as they appear to have superior performance on the PC from my personal experience.

I always choose the PC for my multiplats. And you have to explain me what DRM does MW2 and GTA 4 have since I don´t even need to be conected online to play the SP portions of these games.

That´s only with ubisoft games and in general,PC gamers couldn´t care less about their franchises(exception being Silent Hunter).

And if you find MW2 MP broken, then it´s broken as well on consoles.

I would choose the console version then, that is, unless the console version has terrible framerate issues, something I do not like. But if it plays smoothly on the console, then I'll get the console version for sure.

As i have never had issues with any DRM what so ever, including Ubisofts i will stick will the PC versions.

I prefer a mouse and keyboard for almost every kind of game, even AC2 and Batman i played on m/kb and prefer over a controller. Combined with the fact i'm quite a graphics whore i can't put up with 720p or in some cases, less.

Dragon Age was a very good port to consoles actually. It was inferior to the PC version perhaps, but I think it's unfair to Bioware to say they did anything less than a stellar job. The ultimate example of a bad PC to console port for me would be something like Mafia.

But on an unrelated note you sit farther away when playing console games (well if you play them on your TV) so it becomes difficult to deferentiate at resolutions beyond 1280x720.

Well according to GS the (only have the PS3) PS3 version had framerate issues and the 360 had poor visuals.

Maybe for you it does, but not for me. I can see the difference easily, and i can spot a sub 720p a mile away.

When was Dragon Age Origins a Port? Didn't all multiplatform versions release at the same time and origins actually had a small extra in camera view. I was almost certain ports are games that released on console then later was released on PC. Games such as Grand theft Auto 4, saints row, assasins creed, or even one to come such as lost planet 2 would be considered in this. Most of these games retain alot of control features, settings, etc that are from consoles. This included seeing xbox/ps3 control schemes, statements to connect a xbox controller, no real video graphics settings, etc etc. Dragon age I would not say is a port.

If the experience is greater on the PC then why would I be stupid enough to buy it on a console just becuase of some DRM?

"Oh noes! Battlefield:BC2 only allows me to install it 10 times!!!!!!! I should just give up these dedicated servers, mouse/keyboard controls, and 1080p to play it on the 360!"

MW2 by itself it´s actually the same game as the console versions but with better visuals ONLY,and that´s exactly why it´s inferior.

Good enough by the console standards, not good enough by PC standards.

MW2 wasnt bad on PC, just no mods and dedicated servers

GTA 4 is alot better on PC if you have a high end rig, there are nice mods

AC2 you can get rid of the DRM

PC is still better

I'm rare, but DRM doesn't bother me. You don't even notice it's there once you install the game. I play all multiplats on PC. As I like to choose between a 360,PS3, and KB and Mouse controls.

It depends on how badly the port is bothched. Bioware seems to be the only one these days that are making sure that the PC version of their games are optimized for the platform. As far as the Ubi games go, it's clear what their preference is so if I want to play one of their games, it'll be on a console.

i dont play those games. so i wouldnt know. mw2 is kinda bad. but its the same exact thing as the console version. literally the same. including game lobbies! GG. anyways. i already have gta4 on 360. i kinda prefer gta on a console. but any shooter? pc. regardless of performance issues, theres ways to combat it, unlike a failed pc to console port. so im fine with my pc, thank you very much.

Most games I play on PC are either exclusive or designed around the PC. Games like GTA IV are an exception, seeing as especially the multiplayer can be extremely tedious to get to function correctly. But I'd still prefer PC seeing as keyboard+mouse owns for shooting and the graphics are better.

There are always ways around DRM. As for bad ports, You simply get other games.
Actually that is the solution to all that stuff. You don't like it, get another game, because the pc gets plenty of cool games.

The only multiplat I can't run as good as the console version is Saints Row 2. Every other multiplat I own on the PC performs at least as well as the console counterpart (GTA4), or at least slightly better, all at 1920x1080 on my 52 HDTV.

Bioshock 1/2, GTA4, Red Faction Guerrilla, Arkham, SF4, Lost Planet, Just Cause 2, COD4, GRID, DIRt2, War For Cybertron, Dead Space, Riddick, Gears Of War, Resident Evil 5, The Force Unleashed, Ghostbusters, Assassins Creed 1 and 2, Borderlands.

Every single one of those games is currently installed on my PC, ready to go at the click of a button (online or not, UBISOFT drm is a joke.)

The 360/PS3 cannot perform at the same level as my rig on ANY of those games.

Why would I ever consider buying the console version? Bad ports and all, with a decent rig the consoles CANNOT compete.

Hell my PC isn't even high end. C2D @ 3 ghz, and a GTX 280 and it still eats the consoles.

Except all of these games are still better on PC.... I've never had any problems whatsoever with DRM and I have all of these games except Modern Warfare 2. GTAIV still has better graphics/framerate and controls. Assassin's Creed 2 has better graphics/framerate and same controls(I use the 360 controller). Star Wars Force Unleashed has better graphics and same controls, and has extra content. Modern Warfare 2 has better graphics and controls and same everything else. The game is broken, but it's also broken on consoles. Consoles also have P2P as well, so it's exactly the same except for graphics and controls as the PC port. The games are all polished pretty much the same, having an awesome rig helps though. But you get what you pay for.
