We are on the cusp of seeing PC gaming potentially supplant console gaming with two new recent developments: Valve's Steambox (which is unannounced, and may come with some nifty new control scheme) and Nvidia's Project Shield, which promises the ability to stream games from your gaming rig straight to either a television or a small handheld.
We don't know much about the Steambox yet, but if it offers a new control scheme that offers the precision of the mouse and keyboard with the portability of the controller, I will be very impressed. As for Nvidia's Project Shield, the idea of playing PC games while elsewhere in the house is very nice.
2013 could be the year of hardware moreso than anything else. I dunno about you guys, but I am saving up money for a new Haswell setup + a new Nvidia GPU. If Valve's new hardware offering underwhelms, I'll likely go for Nvidia's offering, and visa versa.
Really excited to see hardware at the forefront of everything again. Years ago, they declared PC gaming dead, but now, it's console gaming running for the hills.
