Assassins creed DOES NOT require 3GB RAM, if youve read the thread then you should know.
Crysis was NOT our biggest game, it was a game with outstanding potential, it was NOT our best game.
STALKER: Shadows of Chernobyl has sold nearly 2 million, an amazing game that came out of nowhere, its bigger than Crysis.
But console fanboys seem to love Marketing so they believe because Crysis got all this advertisement that it was out best game  ... best graphically, and excellent single player.
Once again, the PC does have tons of standout exclusives like Stalker, SOASE, and Witcher who have all sold over 1 million in their first month, and could conceivably go on to atleast 14 million over their life span. Vandalvideo
There is no way those games will get to 14m.. or even combined. Or even half that combined.
Thats more then Half Life 2.. or WoW. Thats Sims type sales, thats not going to happen.

Thats the trend with PC games. Unlike console games, their sales do not stagnate. Starcraft is a case in point of this trend. It sold anywhere between 1 and 2 million in its first month and went on to sell 15 million, and that number was taken in 2006 or something like that. PC game sales don't work like console game sales, they do not stagnate.pcs have loads of exclusive quality titles. they just don't have the mass casual appeal that a console does because it has the nerd stigma attached to it and they take understanding to get the most out of. as you may have guessed i'm not a pc gamer.my_name_is_ron

Starcraft one battlechest is the number 3-4 ranked top strategy seller for ebgames for last year. Incase you didn't know starcraft is a 10 year old game.. I'm pretty sure it hit 20million by now.

Actually WoW may be hitting 20~30 million sales at retail. People are only counting active subscriptions, but there are plenty of people who stopped playing. But yes 14m is a bit much for those titles.

Meh in the western hemisphere he is right. Even where I live it's like that. When I went to the US it was like that, hence they reason this board calls us Hermits in the first place. It's a stereotype thing over here.

None of the games you listed are starcraft.. Whats starcraft got to do with anything? Thats like someone pulling out saying "Halo 3 sold 8million.. that means [insert generic shooter here] will also sell 8 million!". I didn't say PC games don't sell, Some of them sell really, really well. I did say that those particular games listed won't sell anywhere near as high as said though.

Most PC games don't sell 1 million in their first month. The average PC game usually only sells anywhere between 250,000 to 500,000 in its first month. Those numbers may SOUND low, but you have to understand the PC market. Sales do not stagnate on the PC. Over a longer period of time the sales accumulate as it continues to sell at the same rate. The reason? WIth such a large built in user base, more and more people start to the buy the game either from word of mouth or from upgrading and chosing to buy the game. PC sales stay constant until a game practically becomes shareware.
My problem with PC gaming is the unfortunate scaling the developers have to do for poorer systems, I mean Cysis is pretty hefty...but games that push the envelope like it, only come out...well whenever Valve, ID, Crytek or Epic take the next leap. I think its a big stigma on not being scalable enough to make enough sales, but those companies are lucky enough to be fortified by popularity, they also happen to make the mainsteam engines, but they are also the only companies that ever seem to show off their engines on a mass scale, which in turn makes a lot of games seem very similar aesthetically. Source engine games seem to all have that dry feeling, not a lot of depth and spotted textures. Doom engine had that plastic feeling (not a lot of games used it but its an example). I cant recall directly having played many games on the Unreal 2.0, even though I'm sure I have and I'm sure I could make a good example on that too.
Sometimes you get a new one, Crytek isnt that old for example.

it's because the general (mis)conception is that all pc gamers sit on their own at their desks tapping away at a keyboard day and night in a grubby old room. i think it's fair to say that to be a serious gamer on a pc takes a much bigger knowledge of how your platform works than the amount of knowledge it takes to work a console. take me for example, i have a pc that, with a feww extra bits & pieces, would be able to run the most recent games but without the knowledge of what exactly it is i need to buy and how & where to stick it inside my computer i would just resort to buying a ready made new, gaming quality pc to play the most recent games which puts me off because they cost upwards of £700 when they're ready built by a shop. that's why i prefer consoles

I dont think PC gamers are nerdy but when they pull out the pathetic "most AAAE most AAE chart" then they remind me of how sad some hermits can be. First of all when I made this topic I wasn't here to attack PC gamers I just wanted to talk about how it's kind of unfortunate that a lot of the time you see games that are 360/ps3 only like GTA4 and resident evil 5 etc because a lot of devs see the downloading of their games to be lost profit. then people bring up starcraft. Was there mass torrent downloads when starcraft came out?
and the sales probably increased since the game was probably in the $5 basket of old games. So dont live in the past and bring out your outdated list just because PC has been a platform as a whole for like 20 years. It's all about the present at the moment and people tend to want to talk about recent games.

The UK isn't leaning on American influences, it's just that American influences are parasitic.if so many devs are being pulled away then why do pc still has the max number of AAe and AAAe ?naval
because the devs that are being pulled are the most casual-centered ones, which makes more space for hardcore developers.
Without this I doubt STALKER, Witcher, GalacticCivilizations2 or Sins of a Solar EMpire would have been such sucesses.

No offence but youve got the wrong idea about this.
"Most AAAE's AAE" is said * From the beggining of this generation, Xbox360 launch * NOT "All Time" ... so its a very valid arguement.
GTA4 is on the PC in November, RE5 was hinted in one of the PC Gamer Magazines.
As for "price of games" what does it matter? The suer base increases so its win win for gamers :S

actually pc games pull out the most AAAe,AAe per year card precisely because of people like this who don't realize irrespective of the fact that whether they like the games on pc or not , all of those games are good.

Now why wouldn't you want the AAAE/AAE argument brought up? Oh ya because it's freaking pathetic that all the consoles combined x2 can't match the PC in quality exclusives, who knows though maybe if you add this year to 2007 you'll beat our 07 list?
And piracy is hardly hurting PC gaming that much, sure it hurts, but it's still by far the biggest single platform and is showing significant growth every year and is more profitable then consoles in general because it doesn't have microsony etc taking a chunk of your sales money from royalties, theirs no certifcations, no licenses and you can even goto digital distribution and make way more money.

True, while the major gaming market is for console party games / social games, and 'mainstreem' titles, there is a large dedicated PC gaming user-base, let alone PC enthusiasts here, which is great as magazines like PC Powerplay and Atomic thrive off it.I think Australia, USA, Japan and the UK are pretty much consoles only. Not fully. I mean..Autralia is preety PC-centric, at least as much as consoles. And the rest ..while PC looses to consoles there it still has sizable presence (yes..even in Japan, it's just diffrent types of games, but Fate/Stay Night and ToHeart2XRated sold well over 150K in first week there).
Also...UK, Canada,Japan, USA, France, Italy and maybe Spain...and you have all countries where consoles aren't in minority compared to PCgaming
