Understood but why spend the money and time on upgrading your PC for almost every new generation of games. While with a counsel i drop an allotted amount of money every five years or so and then i'm good until another generation of counsels emerge. WTFBRO43215
Because you may actually be interested in playing worthwhile games?
I used to understand the draw to PC gaming due to better graphics and more responsive controls. But those days are done with this new generation so what is left for the PC gaming. I know this will probably start some real heat but this has been a perplexing topic.WTFBRO43215still has better graphics(i could care less) and much more responsive controls (that i love)
That is not a real point it is so rare to see a pc exclusive game outside of RTS's and MMO's these days developers tend to put all time and energy into multi-system releases. WTFBRO43215
And this is a probleme because?

Because you don't. A 500 dollar PC can play Crysis on high settings. Surely, it also plays other games? Plus, you don't always need cutting edge graphics. You can probably game with that 500 dollar PC until it breaks, even if you might need to set games on Medium 5-6 years down the line. Which means it really won't differ that much from consoles because they automatically get a graphical downgrade anyway due to hardware limitations.
Because you may actually be interested in playing worthwhile games?

That argument is full of bull. There're plenty of games worth playing on PCs and consoles. They idea that just because a game is on a console, it isn't worth playing is just unbelievably full of bias. I guess that means Braid wasn't worthwhile before it came to PC then? How about Halo CE then?
My own preference for consoles lies with my preference of genres. RTS and FPS, which take the most advantage of controls on PC, don't interest me that much. I'm a huge fan of certain fighting games, RPGs, and action adventures which work well on consoles. My only exception is the WRPG scene. I generally don't buy them for consoles because the PC versions have a lot of fan support in the form of mods.

I have to differ on your last point counsel graphics tend to get better by the end of the systems life look at the first generation xbox and ps2 games compared to the what they were squeezing out of the systems towards the end of their lives.Console graphics dont get better because of its hardware overtime, they learn how to code the game in certain ways to hide, cut, and add things where and what they want you to see. Here's are perfect example of Pc vs Console on the graphics front, http://www.gamespot.com/features/6154261/index.html
Also Mods, custom content, replay value, compatibility play a big role how Pc games can last for many years over console games.

While with a counsel i drop an allotted amount of money every five years or so and then i'm good until another generation of counsels emerge. WTFBRO43215why get 2 boxes when you can have one for a whole gen with no upgrades. a 2005 7800gtx still runs games better than x360 and a 2006 8800gts destroys ps3/x360 and there wont be a single game this gen that wont run on a 8800 series gpu. console gaming looks cheaper on paper but get very expensive when you factor in the expensive games compared to pc and now most pc games work natively with x360 controller there is little reason to get a console over pc. a highend pc bought today will last well into the next console gen while if you get a ps3 now in a couple of years a ps4 will probably come out and then you have to upgrade to that.
[QUOTE="bubbleboyii"]pc on low settings now = console settings a sub $400 pc can do better and will always look better than ps3/x360. consoles graphics have hardly improved since gears of war in 2006 while pc multiplat games now look significantly better. if all you want is to play the game sure go and buy a cheap 360 but you don't need a $600+ pc just to keep up with consoles. ps3 was a so called supercomputer but can't even match a highend 2005 pc. 2005 pc = mostly medium settings ps3 = low-med. ps3 struggles to run 720p in most games with many running in 540p or 600p well below what the pc can do.Because you don't. WTFBRO43215the pc still has the most exclusives, good ones. i despise the dumbing down of pc games for multiplatform, even with this the pc is still the highest rated platform

pc still has better graphics and everyone has a pc might as well just upgrade it, it honestly doesn't cost much u can build an amazing computer for 700. If you think about it console is actually more expensive because you have to buy a very costly hd tv to get the full experience. I will tell you the main reason i prefer pc gaming. EXTRA FREE USER CONTENT. With pc gaming you get user made mods which add hours upon hours of fun. Example half life 2 there are so many great mods like insurgency, dystopia, neotokyo, pirates viking knight. If you check out the mods i just listed and you look at screen shots of them, they look like real retail games which is amazing especially since i paid 20 bucks for half life 2 and got 100 hours of game play out of it from mods. Also UT3 lots of mods, and cod 4, and crysis. Pc can't get outdated because you can always update, right now it may seem that xbox 360 or ps3 graphics cant' get any better but it can, game developers do not have the power to make each object an individual object, we can expand very far with graphics and pc you can constantly upgrade so you don't need to throw out 400 dollar box and buy another one. Example in games grass is just 1 solid texture, but in the future they will be able to make each blade of grass it's own object with it's own actions and reactions giving it a more sense of realism. I also like mouse and keyboard controls, some people who play console will disagree but i doubt they used mouse and keyboard for very long, once u get used to it console controllers will feel slow and unresponsive. Pc will always out perform technology is growing exponentially and pc will always get on top of technology, Pc already has a xbox 360 and ps3 emulator it's in beta but still it's there which is kind of funny. But i can understand why somepeople prefer console, i own a ps3 because i am a metal gear solid fanboy and i will buy anything kojima makes, but i like my ps3 because of fighting games and playing games with my friend in split screen. (I don't have an hd tv yet :( but i'll probably get one with my bonus in december)

Actually, PC's are played more than any console. Console games also cost more money to develop compared to PC games, so making a profit requires much more units to be sold. Even then the PC has many exclusive games that have sold over a million copies. Sins of a Solar Empire, The Witcher, Stalker, Crysis and Sims 3 off the top of my head. Where's your link to back up your claims?

This is very true. It's been proven to you console fan boys (not counsel) that in the long run a good pc ($400-$1000) is cheaper due to consoles having more expensive games and 360 owners have to pay $50 a year to play online and other idiotic things.

All wrong unfortunately.
More people play on the PC.
More developers work on the PC.
As for your point about higher attachment rates, of course consoles have better ones than the PC. The PC is not just used for gaming.

To add to that... A great percentage of PC gamers buy their games off steam, D2D, or something like that, and those sales don't count towards the actual sales count. That means when a PC game says it it sold 2.5 million then it probably sold a lot more than that.If this has no topic and is just PC games vs. Console games then...Games are played on Consoles more than PC's - fact. Where did you get that statistic ? I think there are 10X more PC gamers then all console gamers combined.

Plenty of which exist on consoles.says who? no one tracks pc gaming hardware sales, there are far to many digital sales to know how well pc games are selling, pc gaming is bigger than all consoles combined world wide. ps2 was the only console that was close to pc and this gen ps3/x360 are miles of that 100+ million. pc gaming only worth 13 billion. You'd think 3 vs 1 system would easily win but no, pc still has the largest user base.If this has no topic and is just PC games vs. Console games then...Games are played on Consoles more than PC's - fact. PC game is lesser superior of game because of bad style and making it aim towards small audience. The game of console make for more people with more people (casual and hardercore) for playing it. Therefore the PC game are worse. Usually you find that console game can be more fun as well. And Piracy ruin PC game but not console just as much.samosirI think I lost a few braincells by reading this.

So 223 million PC gamers < 100ish million console gamers? If you say so.
Consolites are all ignorant - fact.
Ok so first of Console sorry laps of judgment. Now to all you PC gamers out there last games i played on a custom built system was Dark Forces Jedi Night and Alien Vs Predator (although i do revisit Diablo form time to time) and i spent more time trouble shooting with system settings and tweaking with patch's than i did ever really enjoying the game i was attempting to play. Now with my "Console"s i through in a game and nine times out of ten it works. This is a huge draw for me i spend a huge amount of my day solving problems when i want to relax and hang out with my friends XBOX live is there i wish it was the same for my PlayStation but the interface is clunky and i don't know anyone who owns one. So I guess my point here is that for a life long gamer I felt that the Console was simpler and all around more enjoyable. Or did i miss out on when computer games worked right on all systems right out of the box.WTFBRO43215
Thats weird i have never had to spend more than 1 minute setting up system settings, games detect my video card and cpu and will auto adjust and if i get lag i turn down and thats it, sometimes i play around with controls but that barely takes anytime because for fps i just change crouch from c to control and im set. I don't know ur doing something wrong then if it takes u that long and u are really bothered by it, i guess some people just can't figure out how to use computer and computers are too complex for some people if that is the case then sure go play console. If pc is too difficult to handle then don't use it stick with consoles and buy a mac, no need to start a thread i enjoy pc because i can figure out a pc easily and i like additional free content user made but it's all preferance.
