 I thought this part was interesting...
Easy or not, PC game sales were dwarfed by consoles and console games in 2007 - at least at retail. PC game sales accounted for $911 million in revenue - a relatively small percentage of the $18.8 billion sales seen by the industry overall, according to the NPD Group.
The article doesn't state PC gaming is dying but rather is a niche market which I've said all along;)

NPD doesn't count digital distribution. Meaning they don't count steam
[QUOTE="corn_dogs"]This is about a 10 month old article but a very good read. Check it out.Blackbond
Then what the hell is the hold up? If its been 10 months why isn't the PC dead yet?
People have been saying "PC is dying" since 1985. You'd figured it should've been "dead" by now. Yet, here it is. Tons of games selling well over a million copies and still outdoing every other platform in terms of AAA/AA exclusives every single year. I always think these threads are funny. You are correct as well, NPD doesn't count Steam or Direct2Drive. But, hey, look at the bright side, if PC gaming isn't dead yet then it's obviously always going to be strong for as long as there is gaming. ;)

It doesn't say PC gaming is dying if the article is actually read. But it does say console sales blew PC gaming sales out of the water and Console gaming dwarfed it but it doesn't say PC gaming is actually dying.
PC gaming would be dead without the 360. It gets all these late ports of games that sell well on 360, I couldn't see them bothering without it.Parasomniac
Most of the PC's highest grossing games are PC exclusives (Crysis = 3 millions copies, World in Conflict, Starcraft, Diablo, Sins of a Solar Empire, etc.). Sorry, you fail.

PC got more exclusive games back then.

Piracy has always been large. Still, piracy is not as widespread as people think. But it will always be there though on every platform.
PC gaming is fine as it is. Exclusives galore...I can post a link listing all of them if you wish.

the article is niche based on subjectivity. again, those are two of the most gigantic markets in gaming, PC or otherwise. i'm not sure what your point is here.In my eyes PC gaming is dead as can be...Most of there games don't interest me at ALL....They don't have Final fantasyVII on the PC, that's an Epic fail for me. without Consoles like the Xbox360,Video games would be on life supprt by now,And on top of that they get watered down Ports form Consoles(GTAIV,DMC4,Orange Box)...Everytime i see someone defending a Dead system(PC gaming)..I just laugh..and none of my friends do Pc gaming.foreverflame890

1. Just because you have no interests on a platform doesn't mean it's dead. It means you have no interest in the platforms games.
2. Without PC gaming consoles such as the PS3 and 360 would not even exist (including the Wii). The PC was the first gaming machine.
3. None of your little friends game on a PC? And that means it's dead? Amazing.
4. The Orange Box is a PC game pure and simple. It's made by Valve. It's also superior in every way on PC.

They don't? PC gaming is far from dead, Console gaming is nice, but PC gaming is still alot better.
Also the Orange Box was not a watered down port. We get updates for our games. Like the new weapons for TF2 (for free)

FFVII is on the PC(although its actually better played through an emulator, but thats not the point) video games on life support without xbox 360, lolwut? "watered down ports from consoles(gtaiv, dmc4, orange box)", gta4 - ya that was a poor port, dmc4 - that was an excellent port and played flawlessly, and the orange box - LOL WTF, thats a valve game smart one , originally pc and completely dominant on pc and was ported TO consoles

Not only would he rather PC not exist (which would in turn make the consoles cease to exist) but he thinks that any game on a console is better looking than any PC game because it's on a console. Ask him about the comparison between Gears 1 on PC and Gears 1 on 360. He thinks it looks better on 360. Seriously man, don't even bother. I've been through this with him before. Too much ignorance with Heyman.
