hey, first of all, iv been a PC gamer all my live

and I know PC hardware has been expensive a couple of months ago

but times change, and since NVIDIA will release the new 8800GT 512MB next week

I really think the PC takes the throne again

Q6600

8800GT 512MB

Case

Mobo

Ram

Keyboard/mouse

the rest ( excluding monitor and speakers)

that PC will cost you +-$850, and that aint much right ?

especially considering that PC will be able to play Crysis on max

you cannot say that of a console what costs $500

so, what do you think ? since PCgaming is becomming economic again, will you turn the the good side ?

I'll become a PC gamer when Windows is better than Mac OS X, which isn't going to happen soon.

There's not much choice though in terms of games though. Plus, my MacBook is under warranty until late 2009, so I won't be changing until then. :P

Why be so petty, last time we argued this all you could come up with is the F11 (Show all applications) ... which is hardly amazing", your "Faster HArdware" was also incorrect ..

Why dont you just dual boot >> ... or is it more of the case that your macs hardware can barely be changed and isnt gaming quality to begin with?

Let me know when macs actual get custom options, and not overpriced white plastic mini boxes ... i mean those PC/Monitors in 1 are just bad.

Economic? No the parts are economically produced =nd a relatively low production cost, but a high price floor above the consumer equilibrium point, creates diminishing returns for the consumer minimizing there utility.\

PC gaming cost 425 really,a Inspirion 530(349),andgo buy a Nvidia 7300(70$)(no reason to upgrade to a 8 series yet,if you jus wanna play Crysis;only game that taken advantage of the hardware).

200 USD for a next-gen card, with full DX10 compability , Shader Model 4, and what kills the other gaming platforms

doesnt sound like a "high price floor" to me

I have very average specs, but OS X runs very quickly... Vista copied many of Tigers features, but I'll be upgrading to Leopard on friday. I doubt Mr Gates has stolen any ideas from that OS. Vista is on par with the old Mac OS now. It's not good enough for games, that's true. I never bought it for games though. I'd have got a MacBook Pro if that's what I wanted to do. The new iMacs are amazing. The monitor is so slim it's unbelievable.

PC gaming is almost always cheaper. Recent example: Jericho on PS3/360 = $60, Jericho on PC = $40 (or $1 with a GameTap trial). Due to the cheaper games, you can get back the money you spent on the rig in a matter of months. And then of course, factor in all the non-gaming stuff a PC can do..

whoody why the Q6600 though? I think a E6600 should be just fine for next couple years, because they both have the same socket and most games have only recently begun to utilize dual cores.

I already ordered it for £80 off Amazon. I live in the UK not the US, though I am in college. Edit: I just checked... The discount here is £75.20, which isn't really anything to make me want to cancel my current order. :P

Totally agree, not to mention the e6600 o/c like beasts.

Adding to the discussion, if you consider the factors correctly, the addition cost of making a computer you were going to buy anyways into a gaming rig is sometimes less then the cost of a next generation console to begin with. Buying a computer for high school or college? Why not throw in another $300 and make it into a gaming rig. Family buying a new PC, why not turn it into a gaming PC?

Yes, that's why I got a PS3. Less expensive and most games, the good ones at least, get ported anyways. Plus I get to play great exclusives!
