sins is only $30 :) and i hope they will announce sins 2 :)Stardock = pure win.
Sins of a Solar Empire for only $40? Expansion for only $10?! Thats PC gaming.

Well I just read the link and they have my full support. It would be nice if more dev got their thumbs out of their arse and followed these standards.
The Gamer's Bill of Rights:
1) Gamers shall have the right to return games that don't work with their computers for a full refund.
2) Gamers shall have the right to demand that games be released in a finished state.
3) Gamers shall have the right to expect meaningful updates after a game's release.
4) Gamers shall have the right to demand that download managers and updaters not force themselves to run or be forced to load in order to play a game.
5) Gamers shall have the right to expect that the minimum requirements for a game will mean that the game will play adequately on that computer.
6) Gamers shall have the right to expect that games won't install hidden drivers or other potentially harmful software without their consent.
7) Gamers shall have the right to re-download the latest versions of the games they own at any time.
8) Gamers shall have the right to not be treated as potential criminals by developers or publishers.
9) Gamers shall have the right to demand that a single-player game not force them to be connected to the Internet every time they wish to play.
10) Gamers shall have the right that games which are installed to the hard drive shall not require a CD/DVD to remain in the drive to play.
All of these are WIN!

Those right will surely be hated by EA, Microsoft, and Activision. LOL!The Gamer's Bill of Rights:

Those right will surely be hated by EA, Microsoft, and Activision. LOL! Oh yes, they will kick, scream and dig there heals in over this. That said though EA have been rather good to the PC as off late so kudos to them.Stardock is a great pc publisher, but sadly it's only 1 publisher. Valve isn't bad either, but I have a feeling they'll be the next EA/Activision in 5 years.
Another great feature about SOTSE (I'm also going to assume this for other stardock games) is that you can install on multiple pcs for lan play. This pretty much guarantees you sell at least a few copies at every lan party SOTSE is played at.
Oh right the company that downplayed pc piracy. I guess they showed everyone that pc piracy isn't a big deal.

But I agree that stardock is the future of pc gaming in that the platform is saturated with rts and mmorpgs.
PC gaming is a sad shell of its former self. The best that pc gamers can hope for with Alan Wake is a *delayed* console port, that is if they are lucky.
Hoping and praying for delayed console ports. How sad.
Diablo 3 can't come soon enough.
that is epic win, epic epic win, this topic should be at the top of system wars instead of some fanboy crap some of the other topics are spouting
1) Gamers shall have the right to return games that don't work with their computers for a full refund.
Good luck on that one. I can already see stats saying that 90% of pc gamers report that games don't work on their system and they got a refund.
3) Gamers shall have the right to expect meaningful updates after a game's release.
This is the case now, but I don't think you should buy a game for anything other than whats in the box. If the game in the box works then the developer doesn't owe you anything else for free imo.
5) Gamers shall have the right to expect that the minimum requirements for a game will mean that the game will play adequately on that computer.
This won't happen until developers sit down and say, "rather than makes games for hardware nobody has, lets make games that will actually run on computers that people own. That hasn't been an aspect of PC gaming since the invention of the 3D accelerator card and in all honesty I don't think the hardcore PC gamer even wants that.
8 ) Gamers shall have the right to not be treated as potential criminals by developers or publishers.
A fair statement, but I suspect that will happen as soon as piracy drops down to 10%, which will when we all use matrix style computers and a rogue virus kills 90% of pc gamers connected to the matrix. Also, Right #1 shoots this one in the foot.
10) Gamers shall have the right that games which are installed to the hard drive shall not require a CD/DVD to remain in the drive to play.
Right #1 shoots this in the foot.
Stardock has zero copy protection BS and they make more profit off of every game they make than most dev not to mention the fact that we get so much quality for such a small budgetPirates will still be there to ruin it : /
EvanTheGamer
seeing pc is leading in quality exclusives , i don't think they are the ones who are waiting for console ports or anythingOh right the company that downplayed pc piracy. I guess they showed everyone that pc piracy isn't a big deal.

Except that Stardock doesn't make RTSes and MMORPGs :] But yes, Stardock is the future: independent healthy developer catering to certain niche. We all know on consoles you can't be indepedent anyone, you either become publisher's errand boy or go bancrupt.

Onlive isn't the future of PCgaming. And hardly anyone is loosing money on PC, even when piracy rate is 90%, the remaining 10% is enough to make a good profit for most PC devs.Onlive is the future of PC gaming. Until you can get Piracy under 10% they are going to lose money on the PC.
PS3_3DO
Remember how everyone cried about World of Goo's 90% piracy rate? The funny thing is that the devs themselves said that despite that PC version is still bringing them half of the money they make off the game
they did show everyone. Even after this they didn't change their stance even a bit. I guess it didn't affect the sales in the end AdrianWernerYea they really showed everyone that pc piracy isn't a big deal. Release your game on the pc where not only will most people won't pay for it but they may also crash your server. How inspiring.

Oh right they publish rts, (eye roll), as if that changes the original point which is that the pc is saturated with rts and mmorpg.
Small companies churning out low budget rts games while big companies pump money into mmorpgs and pay per sword crap. What a glorious future.
tthe only ones who think PC gaming is "sad shell of it's former self" and are praying for console ports are casuals like you.AdrianWerner
Console ports of what? Though I have a gaming pc I would like to know what you are talking about. PC has been crap this year outside of rts/mmorpg.
My pc is mostly used as file server for my laptop. The only pc game I'll be buying this summer will be Monkey Island which will go on my laptop.
The pc has been in a rut this gen and you'd have to be pretty deluded to think otherwise. It has become a 'wait and see' platform in that you get to wait and see if the developer gods will grant you a port.
Owning an xbox gives you the satisfaction of knowing that the game will be released on time with your hardware specs in mind. The pc is a crapshoot unless you are into mmorpg/rts or older games.

How has the PC been in a rut this whole gen ? We are leading in AAE, AAE and AE.

THey never said piracy isn't a big deal, they just always said you can't do anything about it, so every measure you take to fighting against the pirates will only result in you hurting real legal customers, hence it doesn't make sense to do it.

Almost..it will be small companies pumping out low budget niche games from variety of genres. And yes, this is glorious future. PC gaming is finally going back to it's roots. I couldn't be happier.
Not really. It's just to you PCgaming is just console gaming in higher res. All you care about are shallow big budgeted games. So no wonder you like consoles. I'm an oldchool PCgamer, typical PCgamer, so to me PCgaming has always been about hardcore niche games and genres, even if they don't have huge budgets. So to me console gaming doesn't offer anything of value, while PCgaming nowadays is simply great, far better than it was 5-8 years agoOwning an xbox gives you the satisfaction of knowing that the game will be released on time with your hardware specs in mind. The pc is a crapshoot unless you are into mmorpg/rts or older games.
dc337
Console gamers like you should stick to consoles isntead of whining PCgaming isn't yet another console platform, leave PCgaming to PCgamers like me
Piracy is killing PC gaming continue to pretend it's not for all I care but it is. Onlive is going to be the future also Direct Downloading of games to your Harddrive. I bet in five years there is only going to be a small amount of PC games you buy from a store.

I don't know I can see a lot of Devs jumping onboard using that tech. Isn't Broadband speeds going to increase in the next five years or did the recession put the brakes on that.

So tell me, what high quality exclusives have the 360 had this year? oh oh... and jsut because your not a fan of RTS/MMO's doesnt mean they dont count, they count to some of us more than FPS and Racing crap.Halo Wars is AA from most sites. The review GS did should not count. It's the best Console FPS out now.
PS3_3DO
Halo wars is a FPS? And it should count... just like any other review.

Yes pc is a sad shell
12,7 billion software sales only and 68billion hardware ( to reach 143billion by 2013)
70percent of game developers are working for pc and 43% percent on all 3 consoles ( and before you say that 70percent is mostly web games web games are only 28%)
Most AA and AAA exclusives
Games like battlefield 3,diablo3,starcraft 2, C&C4,Arma2,penumbra games and the upcoming project unknown from the same company ( adventure games since you think pc is only rts and mmo),Anno, project offset, sins of solar empires, WTCC the game ( this IS sim racing game ),total war, DOW2, future horizon, zeno clash, demigod all these and much more are games that you can only play or you will be playing on pc. Let alone id,valve and crytek upcoming games where we all know where they are best played on. Honestly i'd rather wait 6months to get a game but at least it will be better than its consoles simblin be $10-20 cheaper and it will support mods ( mass effect, mirrors edge, assasins creed are all great at 1080p max details with a $100 8800gt)
Besides where else can i make fallout 3 look like this
Thats the only high quality exclusive this year?[QUOTE="Birdy09"][QUOTE="PS3_3DO"]

Of course not but for RTS console games it is.
