[QUOTE="True_Gamer_"]So 600p/30fps/0xAA is not outadated?The_RedLionYes, it is. Youve just called Halo 3/MGS4 outdated....
Youve just called Halo 3/MGS4 outdated.... :lol:True_Gamer_Graphically they are. Oh yes, they are. And those two, even gameplay wise, too.
if those consoles are to last another 4-5 years, I don't see why someone would need to update next year or even in 3 years an already good gaming rig
[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"]needs to be upgraded every 6 months, etc etc)The_RedLionThat's silly. 3 months, not 6. to be fair if you read I said semi-trolling remarks, that would be people like me saying 6 months I guess.
Well just today I ordered my new comp and I can't wait to go back to 60fps in 1080p and catch up to all the games I've missed on the PC the last couple of years. Nothing wrong with consoles and I've been really impressed with both the 360 and PS3 (which I own) this gen but I really feel like it's time to go back to my roots and there is nothing like the freedom found on the PC.

i doubt so.
only MMORPG (RTS)or any games charge monthly fee is profitable on PC games.
FPS, platform, and simulation (combat flight), racingganes all become like a joke on PC...yes they have good graphics and gameplay, but without good sales, it's pointless.
as the result, there will be less and lessPC gamessince manufacture cant make profit. if you have play PC gamessince 90s, you would know how much difference between 90s and now.
how many FPS games on PC sell more than 1M in last 5 years? yes STALKER and Crysis are amazing, but how many copies do they sell?
well perhaps MW and MW2 have more than 1M copy sold on PC? lol these 2 games sell more than 10M each on console...
on console, there are more than 100 games that sell 1M or more copies in this gen.
PC users also tend to play pirated games, cheat and use bot. that sucks especially when you play FPS online or mmorpg.

STALKER and STALKER CS each sold over a million copies
crysis has sold around 2-3m
warhead has sold about 1m
and you may want to research what profit is. pc games take so much less to make than console games, a pc game company will make a bigger profit from the sale of 1 game than a console developer would.
and console gamers pirate and glitch cheat and hack as much as pc gamers do, yet on the pc theres usually an admin on a sever banning the hackers unlike the consoles.
and good thing theres no evidence that piracy has any actual negative effect on the industry worth mentioning

Microsoft bans 1 million console owners for modded consoles. There are articles on the net showing you how to mod your controller to cheat in console games.
Cheats are everywhere and you're post is hugely misinformed.

Well if you consider over 2million Stalker sold ( this is coming straight from the devils mouth ) bad sales then i guess only 2-3 games every year sell good
Crysis also sold similar to Stalker and Left4dead also
Let alone RTS games that are plentyfull every year on PC for a reason( they sell )
To know the PC gaming industry is healthier than consoles; one only needs to look to exclusives.
PC has a significant lead in AA/AAA 3rd party exclusives, 3rd party as in developers that chose of their own free will to keep a game exclusive to one audience. Look at consoles however and the 3rd party exclusive is almost extinct, consoles exclusive lineup is highly supplemented by the 1st party. You cannot create a exclusivity list of high profile console games without the majority of them being artificial exclusives bought by Sony and Microsoft.
PC gaming is managing to keep hold of many exclusive games, in the meantime if it wasn't for Sony's and Microsoft's check book the consoles would barely have a handful of exclusives to call their own. Yes they seem to get more blockbuster titles, but these blockbusters wouldn't exist without 1st party involvement, 3rd party developers favour PC over console.

not really. i checked crysis, it only sold 1M after 3month of its release date...yeah it might have 2M copies sold now, but PC games price drop very fast comparing to console games. i saw crysis $20 on steam in 2008. higher profit margin than console? maybe in the first few months, but console still generate more profit than PC. It's simple, if PC games (not those flash games) can make more $ than console and much easier to develop, then there wouldnt be so few PC games. cheat and bot is commonly known on PC. it's not misinformed, PC is a open system, and it's much easier to cheat and use bot. check out mmorpg...you can see bot everywhere. in console, yes it has cheaters, but it's rare.not really. i checked crysis, it only sold 1M after 3month of its release date...yeah it might have 2M copies sold now, but PC games price drop very fast comparing to console games. i saw crysis $20 on steam in 2008. higher profit margin than console? maybe in the first few months, but console still generate more profit than PC. crysis is still $40 warhead is $30
and no they do not generate more profit. more sales =/= more profit.
so few pc games?
Do you know why consoles cannot hang on to 3rd party exclusives were as PC can? They're spoiled.
A AAA game with a $1m budget can sell 500,000 on PC and make the developers millions in return. Tell that to a console gamer; and they turn their noses up at it. Nothing but a game that cost 10+ million to make and sells millions in the shops will impress them; and that attitude is why they don't have 3rd party exclusives anymore. What these people don't get is there is a difference between a game that sells millions because it is successful; and a game that needs to sell millions because of its high costs.
They expect every game to sell millions, if it didn't it's a flop, regardless of the initial investment.
Consoles are static hardware, because they are static there is no excuse not to utilize them, the entire install base is identical. Console users expect developers to fully utilize these systems, costing them millions, which drives them cross platform. PC gamers have feature expectations such as dedicated servers and modding, but they don't have the same technology expectations as console users. PC hardware is variable, developers choose which hardware audience they want to make the game for. Even without targeting the latest tech the scalability of PC games enables people to take advantage of their hardware, 1920x1200 with 4x AA anyone?
Developers move forward with technology on PC of their own free will, when they are ready. Consoles force technology forward with generational leaps and fixed hardware utilization expectations, driving development costs up in an unsustainable manner. $30 million may not be an unusual development budget next generation, yet these people wonder why developers take less risks by going cross platform.
3rd party developers prefer PC because there is less financial risk, they don't have to make every title with a $10+ million development budget. That is more important than consoles supposed bigger audience and more important than piracy, but console users will never understand that because they are too busy gloating about sales of games that need to sell millions to be worth it in the first place. Console users will make fun of the technology and sales of PC games, in the meantime they will wonder why the western 3rd party will have abandoned console exclusivity entirely.

AnnoyedDragon
If that 1million budget 500k sales games you refer to is sins of a solar empire it actually sold 1million :P
But yes you are right more developers prefer pc because is less risk let alone quite a console players if a game doestn have 10million budget and upward been hyped to hell and back they wont buy
[QUOTE="ZuluEcho14"]Why would people need to keep buying better hardware for a 5 year old game and flash games?The_RedLionBecause PC's get outdated every three months. by the time consoles debut they are already outdated by pc hardware, that and if consoles had the ability to upgraded, people would be making the same exact complaints. People upgrade because they want their system to run faster not because they are forced to.
but console still generate more profit than PC. oajlu
Gabe Newell, CEO of Valve estimated in 2002 that $30 gross profit can be made from a $50 game sold over Steam, much greater than the $7.50 profit made from games sold through retail. Source

wow you really need to do some research man, you have 15 posts and your level 1, now i wont hold that against you but, your just blurting stuff out.
so please you some sense when you talk because you pretty much lost all you credit on this thread
Sorry as a consolite I refuse to read the article and will instead making semi-trolling remarks out of ignorance about PC gaming (cost, dying, niche, only has RTS, needs to be upgraded every 6 months, etc etc) and when I get throughly owned in this thread I will go off and make my own thread bashing PC gaming and get mad when PC gamers come in and dismantle my "argument" for a second time.blue_hazy_basic
