PC gamers need to stop proving console gamers wrong 24/7. Have you see the prices of console games on release day?:o Lets take 5 multiplatform games and add them up.

Max Payne 3

Console - £38.91

PC - £24.99

Fallout: New Vegas

Console - £37.91

PC - £24.99

Crysis 2

Console - £38.91

PC - £26.99

Dead Rising 2

Console - £44.90 = Heart Attack!

PC - £24.99

Dragon Age 2

Console - £39.91

PC - £29.91

Console total £200.54

PC total £131.87

That's just 5 games and you save near £70 or 3 more PC games from release. Its obvious PC gaming is dying was created by non other then PC gamers! I was watching the matrix and cracked the code. Why are there so many PC gaming is dead threads? They are created by PC gamers! So spread the word go to your local game shops and tell every1 PC gaming is dead *wink*. Your wallet depends on it.

It would be nice if you posted the source for these prices, or stopped assuming games cost the same everywhere..

I do like that PC game prices are cheaper. It's also great when I get in on some crazy deals from Steam and D2D.

I think social media is what will kill gaming, like FB games where you cant advanced unless you pay money, or get your friends to play the same game, I hread Fable 3 will use twitter somehow, is that true?

It's still a >$60 difference if you're looking at the U.S. prices..which is well over the full cost of a brand new PC game.

This is part of the reason I buy the PC versions of multiplats (in addition to the fact that they're usually better on PC anyway.)

You forget $50 subscription to play multiplayer on Xbox 360 thru Xbox Live, $50 dollar one year, $50 the next, in 5 years it's $250, while us PC gamers get it for free. There goes half the cost of a descent PC. LMAO.

Oh BTW, Dirt 2 was selling for $6 thru digital download the other day.

To be fair I need those savings to pay me a new PC every 6 / 7 years or so.
I never seem to need to upgrade until it becomes so bad that I might as well buy a new PC.
I'm not into building/configuring PC's myself. So after researching I pick the components and let a store do that for me.
It always ends up costing around 1700 euro.

The PC also offers the biggest ammount of free / low priced gems. It's a good idea to look into free games every now and then.

Usually the less popular version of anything is going to be cheaper...AND...IT just goes to show that console gamers are whilling to pay the price difference.

Partially true, but that's sort of irrelevant if you are not interested in selling your games anyway.

While I love the cheaper average prices of PC games, I'd say the low prices of games like Dead Rising 2 ($40) is a sign that Capcom has low confidence the PC version would sell well at the $50 price point. Rather than low game prices being a sign of PC gaming's health, one could just as easily interpret it as a sign of desperation to try and increase sales.

Console games are all priced at $60 because of 1) licensing and royalties but also 2) companies are confident that people will buy it at that price.

The trade off seems to be that a really good pc will be very expensive but the games are much cheaper to create a decent balance.

TLDR:

If you buy a lot of games, that 1000 dollar rig of yours might not be that expensive after all (in the long run).

Or you could just you know...get console games for near enough the same price if you look carefully enough and not fork out a load of money for the PC in the first place?

You can actually save a boat load of money if you're someone who buys games well after release. I bought DiRT2 for $6 the other week, GTA4 for $5 and TF2 for $7 during the summer, there's no way I could buy it for that cheap on consoles unless it was something off Craigslist... even then, I feel better knowing my money still supports the publisher and developer.

Consoles can beat PCs on start-up price, I'll admit that. But you save money in the long run whether you're buying games $10 cheaper at release or $35 cheaper later on. That's also not to mention when you have a PC you can still do a million and one things consoles can't if you so choose. Not to mention you tend to get the best version of most multiplatform games.
