Game over hermits. From a recent interview with Brad Wardell (CEO of PC game publisher Stardock) and Chris Taylor (um, Chris-mother****ing-Taylor). When asked about the belief that PC gaming is dying, Wardell responded with:
Oh absolutely. It's not just dying, it's already dead. Totally. In fact...all game developers that feel that way should quickly flee to the, um ... console market, right now. Don't worry about us, we'll guard you're back while you retreat. Nothing to see here. We'll shut the lights off when you're all gone. No, no, no need to thank us at all. We just want to make sure the developers who think PC gaming is dying are safe to flee to greener pastures. We're just that selfless.
Note that I myself understand that Wardell is (obviously) being sarcastic, but I wanted to see a) how many people read the whole post and b) how many people understand that capitalism is cyclical, and sooner or later the trend of porting PC games to consoles will reverse, and we'll see more "hardcore" PC games. As developers like Epic (apparently) shift their focus to consoles, developers/publishers like Stardock and Gas Powered Games are going to fill the void.
