When was the last time you saw a PC game on the NDP.

Okay have you ever noticed that in every NPD report, a PC game is nowhere to be found? Why is this? Because PC games don't sell. The majority of PC gamers pirate their games so developers are forced to abandon the PC platform and develop for the one that has zero piracy. The PS3 is the only console with zero piracy and developers are flocking to it around the globe like muslims flock to mecca.

Why develop games for a console where no one buys your games? Activision knows what's up that's why they are dropping support on PC MW2. With Nvidia and ATI dropping out of the hardware race what is there left for PC gaming?

NPD used to report PC game sales but now they don't that's because PC games don't sell well anymore.

No, it's because most PC game sales are now done over digital distribution, which NPD doesn't cover.

to complete that thought

...at retail

pc game sales have moved pretty much all online. NPD doesnt report online sales simple as that.

and where did you get nvidia and ATI dropping out of the hardware race?

5 years ago they did.

Anyways just because it's DD doesn't mean anything. NPD refuses to cover it because it's not worth putting it up there. Also why doesn't steam release their numbers?

So, what are the latest figures on retail vs. digital distribution PC sales anyhow? Is there an article backing up that most are done online?

(By the way, if an Xbox 360 game is downloaded "On-demand" or whatever they call it, or a PSP game is downloaded on PSN, those also won't get counted right?)

Also piracy is a huge factor in the PC gaming demise. Why don't PC gamers buy their games? They love PC gaming so much but they don't support it. It's kind of hypocritical in my opinion.

With DD sales going strong, that would suggest that piracy isn't as damaging or rampant as you suggest. Without links supporting you, not much to stand on.

what about piracy?

A. theres no reliable data for all we know those millions of pirated copies could be a single person not likely but possible

B. it doesnt stop the sale of good games

I haven't bought a retail game in nearly 2 years now.

All of my purchases these days are digital. Mostly Steam and Impulse.

Many other PC gamers are the same way, which means NPD is fail for tallying PC sales.

The PC will never go back to it's former glory when there wasn't really a dedicated online option like XBL. PSN will never be as good as XBL. All Sony can do is try and make PSN as much like XBL as possible.

Ok then what are the numbers for DD sales? Why aren't they being released? Not many people still buy from steam. Most people buy from retail and PC gaming is the smallest platform for gaming with the smallest userbase. DD has not yet fully taken off so I doubt many people use DD to purchase PC games.

I remember one guy who boldfacedly said that PC didn't have voice chat. Or Thug_Pikachu. Ragged on PC time and time again, and then... "Who/What the hell is a zerg?"

Cool proof, totally 100% true. Why do you think PC games don't get shelf space in shops anymo-

Wait a minute....

THEY DO!

Actually, PC gaming features the largest userbase globally. And PC gaming revenue has been rising, mostly due to the migration to DD over retail.

Ok if they all occur in DD then surely we must have numbers? How come they don't release it. Show me some sales numbers pls.
