You don't need uber graphics to have fun. Sins of a Solar Empire, World of Goo, and Peggle prove that quite well.

Having better resolution, AA, AF etc. on medium-high settings is already better.

Well, if your pc is good enough to max out the games, then by all means go for it...however, if it can't I see no reason why you pc gaming wouldn't be worth it. My pc sucks and it's way old.. I can barely play games like Far Cry at high settings...so I play it on medium and I still have a lot of fun on it.

You shouldn't give up on pc gaming if you can't max it out. Medium to medium high is good enough to have a great experience.

What is the point in even offering lower settings? Generally it has to do with widening potential market exposure. The more people that can play your game, the more that will buy it. Max settings are overrated... most modern PC games now only need to be at medium settings at a resolution above 720p to be more technically proficient than console games.

Personally, I think the PC has the best lineup, regardless of graphics or anything of that nature. So, even if you are playing at the lowest settings, I would still enjoy it more than any other system. I certainly prefer playing on high settings, but it isn't necessary for my enjoyment.

That's like asking what is the point of playing games on the Wii? The answer applies to crappy computers as well.

Nah. You can still customize your game using mods. If you demand that kind of control, even a low-spec PC still has something to offer you.

TF2 IMO is the best looking game this gen.

Do you think I care so much about visuals? As long as I can get the effects and physics, I could give a rat's ass about the graphical fidelity.

PC gaming is only better when played at the highest settings huh? Let's try that out...

*Sets everything to high in The Witcher: Enhanced Edition*

Playing games at two frames per second is so much fun...Not! Interestingly enough, I've had more fun playing The Witcher on low settings than more than half of my 360 collection combined. Maybe there's more to fun than graphics...

I dont agree

Some people dont have money to buy console, and playing games on PC is all they have

And belive me - even on low settings, those people are enjoying games so much mybe even best time of they life (they probably dont realise it now,but will look @it later )

to need to play any game on low, you're computer would have to be 5 years old.

So this shouldn't be a problem for anyone.

Cause even at lowest settings, PC RTS's still beat console RTS's by... well, a lot.

And RTS's are awesome so... yeah :)

There is much more the PC gaming than superior graphics. It truly is something you need to try to be able to appreciate.

if ur PC is weaker than a console , then ur not a PC gamer period, but then again even older PC's have more ram.

but i agree if ur playing all on low then there is no point (most cases, but not all, example COD4 on PC can have more players online than console)

Racing - Flatout, Trackmania. Maybe not the best, but they're good nonetheless.
RPG - Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate.
Action/Adventure - Assassin's Creed (PC version had some decent improvements)

I'm pretty sure those are all games that a decent amount of people have heard of that aren't FPS or RTS. Now, what do I win?

Rfactor for racing sims. There is just so much sims out for PC and what for console?

For some lackluster, how come console don't offer any gaming simulators?

More exclusives, better online, mods, larger player caps in multiplayer ect have nothing to do with playing at the highest settings.
