After owning all the next gen systems at one point of time or another and selling them. I have come to a conclusion that i should have a long time ago. PC gaming is better. Ill enjoy more games at better prices. Since im in the market for a new system what better time like now to start (crysis). Anyone have some comp suggestions or should i just build my own. Srry console fanboys, i just faced reality.rlsoulbrotha
Build your own. For starters, head down to the PC Hardware forum and give them your parts budget. They'll put you on the right path.

Why? The 8 series already pummels the consoles.

agreed, but the 9000 series will run Crysis the way it should be run.

lol that is bad and I told this to Hermits a long long time ago
PC games != console games. Just because a PC game cant be maxxed out now, doesnt meant it can't be maxxed out in 6 weeks.
after optimization patches and new hardware sure, but thats the problem with PC gaming and I have said it all along, well this is one of the problems, its not like PC gaming doesnt have its drawbacks.

and how much is that card? 550$?
No current PC will max out crysis, jfyiWartzay
this is true...no hardware on the planet (except industrial super computers) is capable of maxing out crysis at a very high res (though super computers would make mince meat of it :P).
anywho im also a big fan of PC gaming TC. there expensive and can be tempermental but they can also be a very rewarding platform. get enough games and the extra cost can also be offset (though u will need to get a snot load of games :P).
my recommendations?
go quadcore for future proofing, especially if u have no intention of upgrading anything for a while after the initial build. there are some games out there that love four cores and more are coming. also ignore AMD for now....the core 2 duos and quads are superior processors for gaming. they might strike back with something at some stage but for now there only could for a cheap processor.
ignore the 8800 ULTRA. the ultra is a complete waste of money. GTX is also very pricey. the 8800GT looks to be a very nice card though. ATIs cards are also nice but the general consensus at the mo is that the 8800s are better with todays games....mostly. also ignore the lower end cards like the 8600s or the ati equilevent...there absolutely rubbish for gaming at a decent res.
dont skimp on the motherboard....cheap motherboards are hell on earth. a good quality motherboard from companies like ASUS or msi will see u good. a good mobo is also absolutely essential for good overclocking.
if ure confident then build ureself. i bought my machine pre built and i regret it. the manufacturer did a solid enough job but nothing i couldnt have done myself really. next time its a self build for me.
ati's new card is on the pipeline for november 19
with full support for quad sli, and other stuff, this might be the answer to running crysis at 2560x1900 without any proble,s
I would go with the above post : wait for ATI's counter-measure to Nvidia's midrange card, the 8800 GT, slated for release somewhere around November 19, 2007. It should be similarly priced and could be a worthy card to consider when building your gaming PC, budget-style.
The 8800 GT is awesome though : it can run Crysis at high settings with a humble resolution choice. It already surpasses the GPUs of next-gen consoles : this means it'll easily pummel through Bioshock, Gears Of War, Lost Planet and hopefully, Halo 3 (PC edition, there's always a chance to hope, no?) with little effort.

Whether or not this is true is unknown, and even if it is true how is it a bad thing? PC games have settings that you can turn down for optimal performance. So in the future, PC games will be able to look better. Wouldn't it be nice if you could play a ps2/xbox game on a ps3/360 and it look significantly better?
