That's right I said it!! I don't care if its apples to oranges this is System Wars we need to fling our tribal verbal diarrhea at each other!

The Switch 2 is the best advertisement for the Steam Deck and PC handhelds in general!! The mental gymnastics and political research sheep are doing to justify the garbage Nintendo is pulling is hilarious.

PC handhelds are a better purchase upfront and in the short term and long term!!

Nintendo Switch 2 is $449 for the console itself. The second you want to play more than one game is when it becomes a costly experience. I see some sheep try to damage control by saying games on PC are similar prices, but guess what? Games on PC permanently drop in price as time goes on. They don't stay at launch price and only go as low as $40 during major holiday sales like Nintendo games do. I can buy myself a Steam Deck LCD for $399 or an OLED version for $549 brand new! I can quickly build up a big library of quality games by simply going to humble bundle getting a subscription and/or buying currently available game bundles. Speaking of which lets see whats available for me to play on a PC handheld right now for cheap.

Nearly all these bundles except EDF can be bought for 12-13 bucks and you get a minimum of 6 well received games. Why? Because game prices actually drop on PC!

Even if the Switch 2 is more powerful than the Steam Deck you can just buy more powerful PC handhelds and it would still be a better investment than the Switch 2 just because of those awful game prices. Another bonus is because of how competitive the PC handheld space is you'll see constant sales and price drops for PC handhelds!

Look at these handhelds at their current lowest sales price are only $50 to $200 more than the Switch 2 and still a better value!

But I know none of this matters to sheep because they can't officially and legally play games with their favorite Italian stereotype. But guess what. Random indie games can rival Nintendo games in sales and popularity now!

This game made by nobodies has already sold over 3 million copies on Steam and surpassed The Witcher 3's peak concurrent player count!

So yeah enjoy your $90 empty cartridge collections sheep. You no longer have a monopoly on portable home console games!

Oh jesus, can we get a stickied thread for these rants?

Yes, PC games are usually cheaper than console games.

I'll still be buying a Switch 2 because I enjoy Nintendo games.

Can I play Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games (looking at you Donkey Kong: Bananaza) anywhere else besides Switch 2 itself? If the answer is no, end of discussion!

I have a Switch 1, and ASUS ROG Ally, And I will also get a Switch 2.

My ROG Ally cannot play Nintendo games, So I have a Switch for that.

I am really satisfied with both!

PC gaming will always be a better investment, console gaming is not trying to be cheaper than PC gaming.

As others had said, can the PC handhelds play Nintendo games as well play them LEGALLY (no ROMs)?

Also, are we using the flawed "apples vs. oranges" argument?

I got the OLED model on Steam, but I would say that it's a good investment if you're already a PC gamer, because you would have had built up a gaming library already. Any other type of gamer, it's probably not a good investment. I really enjoy the product myself, and it's amazing in every aspect, such as grip, gaming selection, graphical quality, etc.

The thing is, Nintendo gamers get Nintendo to play Nintendo games. It's the only console that comes across as exclusive anymore, unlike Sony and MS. I myself have lost interest in Nintendo games, and have no intention buying their products anymore. They just lost the touch for me, personally.

As someone who will be getting a Switch 2: Yeah I agree. For someone who is not too fussed on Nintendos games, the Switch 2 is a tough sell.

The great thing about buying games for Pc handhelds is you are buying PC games. They can be played on a handheld, a laptop or a Desktop...whatever suits.

I wouldn't recommend a Switch 2 to someone unless they specifically wanted to play Nintendo games or other exclusives Nintendo commissions.

Yeah, you are right about value for money, but Nintendo's got dem excloosifes and can charge what they want. And now they can charge even more thanks to Trump's hopeless tariff policies. The Switch 2 is going to be expensive but Nintendo Labo is still the greatest rip-off in recent history.

should have known...the company that made the labo selling $80 games. Actually, the price of the console is a bit of a shock, but its sort of acceptable. Games on the other hand...yeah its way too damn high.

I watched the video I don't see anywhere where he said that the Switch 2 runs better than the Ally X only that it runs better than the Steam Deck in Street Fighter 6 and likely Cyberpunk 2077 since the Steam Deck was getting similar framerates but at 800p. He did say that the Switch 2 was close to the Ally X in Cyberpunk 2077. But also he was comparing the Switch 2 docked vs the Ally X undocked.

Either way I'm excited to see how the Switch 2 compares to PC handhelds once its out and to see if Switch 2 will have any influence on PC ports to have settings similar to what we can see on the Switch similar to how some games have a Steam Deck preset.

Either way, CDPR still has time to improve Cyberpunk's quality, it took 7 weeks for them to port the game. They have until launch to complete that.

Wouldn't mind getting a handheld gaming pc ... now another good suggestion would be to get one of those retro gaming handhelds but the issue is that there's so many of them

Just get an Odin 2 portal. Way cheaper and you can play all the switch games you want. Also have access to a bunch of emulators

It is the better investment. Value depends if you want to play 97% of the games available out there, or Nintendo games.

Nah jk value is subjective, silly 😐

@ivangrozny said:

Sorry, it can be both.

  • Product A cost $500, but the games for it cost $35.
  • Product B cost of $350, but the games cost $60.
  • The generation for these two products are three years long.
  • I buy six games each year.

Let's do some math:

  • Product A: $500+($35x18)=$1130
  • Product B: $350+($60x18)=$1430

Product A is the better investment if you play a lot of games.

@mrbojangles25: investment by definition is something that grows in value. Videogames are a terrible investment. They lose value over time. Your example is just one product might be cheaper than another. That's not an investment 🙂

I feel like folks look at this stuff all wrong. The money isn’t the investment. It’s your time! I will pay whatever it costs to play the games I enjoy. Saving a few bucks and only playing games that are on sale isn’t why I’m in this hobby. And it’s a waste of my time.

You can sell games and get some of your money back. And like Ivan said, that’s a poor investment strategy. By you will NEVER get your time back. So spend it playing the games you enjoy the most. Not the games that save you a few bucks.

Weirdly enough if we are actually talking investment, some sort of limited edition (normally pokemon themed) Nintendo console in as new condition can actually be a decent investment, I mean you can never actually play it or enjoy it but if we're talking genuine financial investment then Nintendo is legitimately the better play.
