It may be legit and that´s great, sadly though that´s a very niche genre and on the PC very few care about it,the reason why you don´t see them often on the platform, just like jrpg´s,almost no one gives a shit.

There are many Arcade Sticks available for PC. Most XBOX 360 Arcade Sticks also work on PC.

Of course, you can also use an XBOX controller on PC (the PC version of the controller).

And on a console, they wouldn't control at all without a controller, so what's your point? Controllers don't cost much, a cheap peripheral.

Unlike consoles, the PC can use every control method in existence to play games,so it´s even better.

Console gaming will eventually move from hardware to a software platform like steam working to serve the pc anyway. All games will be pc. Get use to it.

Just like FPS´s and strategy games in general play like garbage with a controller, the difference is that you have to suck it up and use it because no other option is there for you on a console,on the PC that is never an issue, anyone claiming a game will play like crap on the PC because of it´s default control method is only asking to be owned in the argument, like you have, yet again.

This is the last generation of consoles anyway. It will move from hardware to a software service like steam and work under pc.

Console gaming is close to death, pc wins. You will be playing Street Fighter 8 on a tablet.

TC: PC has become a legit (one vs. one) fighting game platform.

----

Nope, although I own a few of those on PC.

You know why, because the very best fighting gamres don't flock to PC. The competition online stinks for a lot of the time.

Then there is the fact that you skipped over a ton of awesome fighting games that never came to PC and we have an open and shut case:

F**k no.
BTW: I would say the exact reverse if we were talking RTS on consoles and recommend PC all the way.

Any why is that?

These ports are proof that fighting games are becoming much more popular on PC with most of these games being relatively recently released, with BlazBlue Calamity Trigger being the oldest (originally released 2009 on XBOX 360 and PS3).

Which wouldn't be surprising considering they brought Mortal Kombat over.

there's a lot more Fighting games than that on PC.

Street Fighter Alpha 2

Guilty Gear X2

Mortal Kombat Trilogy

Virtua Fighter 2

Guilty Gear Isuka

and there is of Course M.U.G.E.N. which you can pretty much make any fighting game you want out of it.(except for ones like Tekken or Soul Calibur)

I'm just curious to know if there's even a stable amount of player interest for fighting games on PC. I know there is for Street Fighter 4, but I haven't really heard/seen much talk amongst the community for any other game mentioned here.

Too bad most of those games don't interest me (SSFIV is already on my PS3, and I've gotten tired of it a long time ago), while BBCT is already old (far superseeded by BlazeBlue Continuum Shift Extend on the consoles). And most of all, my favorite, Persona 4: Arena, isn't going to the PC.

And don't get me started on the Dead or Alive and Soul Series (still non existent on the PC).

Of course PC isn't the Best when it comes to Fighting games.

That Title goes to the PS3 seeing how it has the most Games for the Genre. PC however is seeing an Increase in this area for quite sometime and thankfully Developers are seeing that and releasing their games to the system.

This. Some genre are just not popular on pc, and dead userbase. Just like RTS is not popular on console, or simulation(besides racer). Also. Wow you have such high gamerscore and trophy. Never seen this high, do you play same game on both system for higher score?

Wut? PC gamers love JRPGs, Final Fanatsy VII has been in the top 3 on th Steam sales for a whole and and after all this time it's still a bestseller, plus there are thousands of PC exclusive indie JRPGs on PC, some of them are even better than most Final Fantasy games.

There are many Arcade Sticks available for PC. Most XBOX 360 Arcade Sticks also work on PC.

Of course, you can also use an XBOX controller on PC (the PC version of the controller).

Many people actually find the strict digital input on keyboards to be preferable to other input methods (which was why it was adopted and refined for the Hitbox). The PC won't become a major fighting game platform though because for major competition you need to ensure an identical experience. The logistics of trying to get a load of PCs to an event let alone ensuring they all run the game exactly the same, with the same settings and same performance is many times more complicated then people just bringing console hardware (after having decided on a particular console).

If you don't have Tekken, Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter on that platform, it's not a legit fighting game platform, simple as that. Among those you mentioned, SF is the only active arcade fighter. The rest are console fighters. And in case you didn't know, the fighting game audience are all from arcade fighters.

I'm glad it's getting more fighting games and it's nice knowing we can use ANY controller unlike the consoles. But honestly, I actually like the keyboard for fighting games. I do pretty well on SF4AE and that's because the arrow keys are easier to use than the 360/PS3 D-pad. Also, pound for pound, the PC actually has the most fighting games when compared to any other console, also doesn't help that the PC has MUGEN.

The internet issue is a big deal. This is one of the reasons DLC characters (though not the only reason) are problematic in tournament scenes. There is no guarantee that every machine will be updated to and have all of that stuff. The point of the internet is also important because it is the primary means of identifying controller ID's and acquiring drivers (as far as I know). You normally don't notice it because it happens in the background whilst your machine is online. Testing the machines for drivers or not isn't the problem. Their might be someone who comes with a controller you didn't expect (I'm sure hitboxes raised a few eyebrows when they first appeared) or a custom job with a PCB that doesn't correspond to one of the most popular controllers. Now, I could understand if the game they were playing was only available on PC, or if swift mouse-input raised the competitive level of the game on the PC version...but fighting games don't gain a competitive edge from being on the PC. Why bother with any of the potential headaches (no matter how small or unlikely they might be) when there is already an option out there that does exactly everything the tournament scene wants it to? It doesn't really make sense.

When was the last time you bought a new device for a PC and plugged it in only to find the drivers were already installed? I've never seen that happen.   At best you will have your device type recognised and your computer assigning a generic profile.
