Last time I checked Crysis is now multi-platform not the other way around so..................

on the other hand console gaming revenue declined. is console gaming dying?SamiRDuran
The fact that consoles are getting old have something to do with this I think. More and more peoples consider bying that multiplatform game for the pc.
When a new console is released everybody buys it and forgets about pc.

Pretty much. I may buy a new PC soon as I am tired of my crappy laptop, and I expect it to be more powerful gaming machine than consoles so I could game on it no problem and save more money on steam.[QUOTE="SamiRDuran"]on the other hand console gaming revenue declined. is console gaming dying?edidili

To add to that this generation of gaming for consoles is per-longed as compared to previous gens. Majority of consumers already own a ps3 360 and wii. Not to mention that PC gamers buy more games as oppose to your average console gamer who buys probably about 3 to 4 games a year.[QUOTE="Lucianu"][QUOTE="CB4McGusto"]

We get 90 exclusives in 2011. And a good deal of them aren't from indie devs. I believe you need to reasses your definition of a indie dev.

And yet the PC will still likely finish with the best library and best exclusives for the year by GS.
[QUOTE="CB4McGusto"] A bunch of indie games that nobody has even heard of. Heck, indie developers are the force taking the industry forward. Without indie games we'd be stuck playing the twelfth incarnation of Call of Duty. And all of those games will get reviewed on a review site. Just not necessarily Gamespot. Having just finished playing King Arthur ($5 on steam sale) outside of RDR and ME2 it was better than any console game I played last year. How many consolites on here have even heard of it?
Without a breakdown of which types of games made what that number is pretty useless. PC is much bigger when it comes to small and old games. The interesting number imo is revenue for $60 (or whatever they cost on PC) games released 2010 SushigluttonLast year almost no games cost $60 on the PC (outside of Activision), unfortunately EA has now jumped on that bandwagon.

There is no way in hell I'm gonna support this trend. There is no reason why a digital download game in pc should cost 60$. There is no disc and packaging, nobody is paying sony or M$ and I can't sell or trade my game later on.

Buy them in the sales ... I still have a giant backlog of games from the last steam one. I'll still buy Shogun TW and DA2 day one, no matter what though :P[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"][QUOTE="Sushiglutton"]Without a breakdown of which types of games made what that number is pretty useless. I know what you were getting at and was just adding to it. Was annoyed to find out that EA are now charging $60 for DA2. There are so many great games on the PC that aren't "full price" ($50 or $60) because without having to pay licence fees to hardware manufacturers and keeping down dev costs, you can put out a game of stunning quality on a small budget.

This number says nothing about that.

But u can still compare which platform made the most. For Blops I think console sales were ~95%. What we see is that big budget developers are adjusting their games for the console market (crysis 2, DA2 etc). However the tech gap may change that eventually. We'll wee what my fellow Swedes can do with BF3 :)!

Gotcha! ;)
Thought PC gamign was dead though like all the haters been saying? :P
kozzy1234
Yes. Politically correct gaming is dead. How is this so hard to understand?
Consoles died the second they released motion controls and started competing with the Wii (trying at least).
PC has ALWAYS been the place to "truly" game ... consoles are nice for casuals, but come on.
I've said it before and I will say it again. I don't believe PC gaming is dying, but PC game revenue is not directly connected to PC Game sales. It includes all kind of other revenue sources that do not include just sales. As somebody already pointedout, somebody spending money in farmville is going to count in this total. MMORPG subscriptions like World of Warcraft will count as well. So does revenue made from in game advertising.
ANd does things like the new App store on Mac count? Does someone paying $1 for a fart machine app count toward "games revenue"?
PC gaming is doing just fine, and there is money to be made. However, there is a reason that bragging about PC gaming revenue never stops the haters from saying PC gaming is declining. There is really no connection between sales and revenue anymore. Sales can technically go down but revenue still go up because there are more ways to make money.

This argument applies to consoles as well. Peripherals, PSN store, game rentals, used sales, etc. etc.
PC gaming reigns, nothing will change that. We are however in the middle of the worst game dev cycle in history with these multiplat abominations. In 2 years when the current consoles are literally dying of old age people will have a choice: buy another 360 or get a PC - I think most will opt for PC. (unless they are in high school still)
