MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will launch for Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and GOG on May 27, publisher Sold Out and developer Piranha Games announced.

The first major downloadable content “Heroes of the Innersphere” will also launch at the same time.

“We are very excited to also be able to give Xbox and Steam players a good dose of MechWarrior fun,” said Piranha Games parent company Enad Global 7 CEO Robin Flodin in a press release. “It is also great to be able to present yet another example of the EG7 companies working together to bring a world-class title to market.”

Sorry Herms, I know that exclusives are becoming a rare thing these days for PC. But hey, at least other people will get to play it, right?

It feels like MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries came out 5 years ago but anyhow, like Howmakewood said. Why would we care? In any case, I'm glad its coming to other gaming platforms so everyone can enjoy and that's all that matters in the end.

That's the thing. I build my gaming PC to play everything for the best perfoamcne and never care for PC exclusives.

I still can never understand why anyone would be at all troubled by “losing” an exclusive and it coming out on a different platform.

Anyway I thought that Mechwarrior 5 was always scheduled to come out on other platforms but I didn’t really follow the game all that closely so I don’t know. I don’t play many mech games but I’ll take a look into this game to see how it turns out.

For literally every system actually. XB doesn't even have them at all anymore. Also PC still had the most 8.0+ exclusives last gen even though it doesn't focus or care about them so I don't even know what you mean by rare.

Yup. For PC it's about having the largest high scoring library by triple digits each gen. It's about having the most playable games period, no questions asked. Not worrying about what gamers on other systems get. That's so petty lmao.

That gen that literally just ended. Hard to get a head count for a gen that isn't even half a year old.

And what do even you care about counts, PC won head over heals last gen (2012-2020) and you won't acknowledge that making this thread weird.

The industry changed. There's no reason to keep big AAA exclusives (unless of certain genres) exclusive to PC. It isn't in direct competition with the big 3. These games still come to PC, PC still gets the most total AAA titles. They just also go to consoles as well since, who cares. We aren't the CEOs of the big 3.

So do yours lol. More XB and PS games come to PC than ever before.

So much so that PC had over 100 more AAA+AA (Both Gamespot and MC) games than PS4 last gen hehe. All while having near exclusive genres and the most exclusives.

You can take those Indy titles out for all systems and it still wins. PC gets almost every major AAA-AA release on top of all XB exclusives, some PS exclusives, ones and a few PC exclusives of it's own. No reason to lie. PC won last gen in AAA, AA, or Indy.

I mean when Horizon and Death Stranding came to PC you were in absolute dread. PS4 has a handful of movie games left.

It's a bit ironic, I used to care about exclusives, until I went to the PC when I jumped ship from the Xbox One.

It's strange coming back to consoles and seeing people so obsessed with exclusives, that they can't see or accept it when a great deal of gamers don't care about exclusives at all.

You should see the videos on Youtube. It's usually PS fans and it actually makes them happy that someone else can't play a game that they have. They get so angry at Playstation when they release games on the PC. They start using words like betrayal.

Even their own developers think they're losers. Developers are just gamers, they aren't pro exclusive.

From what I've seen and read it's pretty flawed. It's got really repetitive missions, relies on grinding, and has a horrendous spawn system where enemy waves appear out of thin air literally as soon as your head turns. Compared to MW2 Mercs and MW4 Mercs it doesn't seem a worthy successor.

Of course, there's a decent mod community for the game so it may well have been/will be salvageable.

I can agree. I cannot for the life of me understand why someone would give a shit that someone else you don't even know gets to play the same game you like on a platform of their choosing. I mean, who in their right mind would ever care?

Exclusivity is a bullshit business tactic that hurts consumers and only benefits the companies that partake in said practice.

I am happy a much-beloved franchise is now available on other platforms, and celebrate my brothers and sisters on consoles (as simple-minded as they might be relative to us PCMR folks) good fortune.
