I wanted to get a new system
So what would do you think is better a PS3 or a 500 dollar PC
This topic is locked from further discussion.
PC by a landslide, but only if you know what you're doing. If you have no clue, either
A) read up on tutorials and do research or
B) Just go with the PS3
A PC, but why not get both? Options FTW.Skittles_McGeeAfter viewing your profile a bit, it seems like the PS3 would be a much preferred system to you... What do you like better?

What do you like better? It does? I like my PS3, but I'd rather have a decent PC. The game library is so much bigger and I love online gaming, which would make my choice pretty obvious. I'd think the emblem in my profile would make me look like the 360 is my preferred system though :? (as far as just consoles go, that much is actually true)

C'mon, the obvious lack of JRPGs on PC really hurt the system.

I've added like... 1% of my PC gaming library to my collection. I do have the PC version of L4D but I had the 360 version first. And yeah I am a huge JRPG fan. But I'm also a big RTS and FPS fan, which the PC is very.. very nice for. And WRPG as well.

At least consoles have a couple decent RTS games here and there. Not nearly as good as the PC games they're based on, but not bad either for being on consoles.

Of course, if you can't, then my argument is null and void. The only JRPG PC is getting this generation, so far, is The Last Remnant... That's it.

Console RTS's have fewer overall features than the PC versions and to my knowledge there's no way to use the same setup for a console RTS that you do for a PC RTS. And I never said PC was getting JRPGs :? In fact I said the opposite...

RTS games on consoles generally are far worse than their PC counterparts, regardless of controls. Worse graphics, worse framerates, worse communities, dumbed down, lacking features etc. I don't think it is possible to use a keyboard and mouse with any 360 RTS game (or any 360 game for that matter), and I honestly can't play RTS games with a controller.

The answer is simple if you like RTS and WoW then get a PS3. If you arent going to play WoW or dont like RTS get a PS3ZacherWol19if he likes shooter it would also be pc, or turn based strats, or anything with mods, or fighters (my arcade is just a pc and beats out any console for fighters or side scrollers )

So what about all the other great games that aren't WoW or RTS? Did they mysteriously vanish into thin air?

They contradict his argument, so yes they did vanish into thin air. Their existence contradicts him, so he made like a magician and made them vanish. Geez, don't you understand anything.PS3 because it has blu ray, wifi, you can browse the web, use any bluetooth headset, use a keyboard and mouse, winner of the GS best technical graphics 2008, and free online, all in one package under $500 buckaroos.one_on_one
The PC can do all of those things, plus so much more it'll make your head spin. And if you want best graphics, go no further than Crysis, a game he will be able to run on high with a $500 PC.
winner of the GS best technical graphics 2008one_on_one...which everyone knows was bullcrap. Objective awards based on subjective matter? Why do we bother with the award in the first place then? :|
if you are building the pc, pc by far and long will outlast and perform the ps3 in every waysurrealnumber5Unless one of the parts dies after a few weeks/months, or you're shipped a DOA product. :P

PS3 because it has blu ray
PC has blu-ray as well
free online
PC can browse the web as well(and better, and its free)
use any bluetooth headset
PC has a much more expanded choice of headsets.
use a keyboard and mouse
Keyboard and mouse function does not work for all games and is rather unresponsive at times. You can use gamepad on PC and it will work with all your games if you download xpadder or something similar.
winner of the GS best technical graphics 2008
Thats their opinion if MGS4 wins or not. The majority here at SW think other games should have gotten that award so its opinions overrall.
all in one package under $500 buckaroos
For a little more you can get more bang for your buck going with PC.

PS3 games>>>PC games.
All PC really has this gen is crysis. Its all hermits really talk about.
O and sins of a solar empire, thats pretty good too. Medieval total war..boring. WoW..stuff that ****...spore..a mega 'MEH'...i dont need to say it, just go on the GS top PC games list..its mostly multiplats, cysis and..meh...the real good PC games are the old ones between 2001 and 2006. and a few from the 90's.
And multiplats..playing them on console is better. They PLAY better(multiplats always, well mostly score lower than the console version). Who cares about the incremental improvements in gfx. I dont go up to the screen and inspect the AA and AF, esp when im sitting like 3.5m from the TV. And PS3 exclusives look miles ahead, becuase they utilise the cell for gfx processing along with the RSX.
Remember, consoles games/IP's have always sold more and were more popular. Ever since the days of the playstation one
I mean, PC games are good, but its not worth all the hardware, upgrading. People say that for US$200 they can get a card which makes multiplats look better than console...but for US$200..u can get a 360 arcade.
PC versions of multiplats are better. You can use more methods of controls (KB/M, any kind of PC-compatible controller), there's graphics of course, and a lot of games have features console versions don't have. Take DMC4 for example. Extra difficulty mode and Turbo mode.PS3 by a billion

PC versions of multiplats are often delayed and buggy.
Look at a GTAIV, it came out over 6 months later and ran like garbage on ati cards. PC gaming isn't what it used to be, the platform is just treated as quick way of making some cash after the console versions have been sold. It really has become the red headed stepchild of gaming.
One nice thing about console gaming is that you never have to upgrade to play a game. Every console game is made for your exact system.
My friend who is a long-time pc gamer is about to buy a 360. The latest nvidia driver update doesn't work with Fallout 3. That is the type of crap you get to deal with as a pc gamer.
Oh and there is nothing like being hyped for a game for years to have it be released as a public beta (Stalker), or even worse never be fixed (Gothic 3). So much unfinished crap is dumped on pc gamers.
As for the PS3...
The Blu-ray player is a nice benefit that needs to be considered. I prefer the 360 but then I also have a blu-ray player.
So unless you are buying the pc to play its existing library or rts games then I would say go with a ps3. You won't have to sit and wait 6 months to play an unfinished multiplat. There are also major multiplats coming out this year that may never go to pc (FF13, RE5).
I wanted to get a new system

Rdiz
If you already have a xbox 360, get a PS3, since the 360 will cover 99% of major PC games
If you do not have a 360, get either a PC or xbox 360, preferably 360 so you can have its exclusives too
PS3, its a better deal than a brand new computer. (Blu Ray, PS2+PS1 BC, japanese games, lasts longer without upgrading, etc.)

99%? So starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Battlefield 3, Dawn of war 2, empire total war, and demigod (which are major PC games) are also on 360? No? Then 99% is wrong.
Don't pull numbers out of thin air.

A better deal? Do you even know what a computer is? Not only is this new computer going to play games, it has endless reasons on what a PS3 can't do.

No. Console gamers bring up console games beating Crysis. Hermits merely retort. All we have is crysis? So I guess those lists of AAA and AA exlusive games we have is just made up right?
First you say that multiplats play better on console and then you say that there are improvements in graphics on the PC. Contradictory much?
Wow. The level of ignorance and console fanboyism is strong in this thread.
Blu Ray is uneccesary, no BC for PS2 where I live and all PC game from the late 80s onwars will work on a PC today, consoles have more Japanese games sure, but less high-quality titles in total, and if you don't upgrade your PC, it'll still be better than the PS3 forever.PS3, its a better deal than a brand new computer. It's sad, but PC gamers will soon lose their voice amongst this deafening chorus of ignorance. It's just a numbers problem. There's more of these kids that express complete ignorancec of the PC and top it off with sleazy slogans like, "chix digz PS3, hermitz!" Now where you got ten of 'em, you got one decent mature, PC gamers actually stating technical facts. It's almost a concrete fact in itself: Read the posts by PC gamers and you'll see coherent stucture and a certain stern, but sincere humility in their tone. Fan-trolls on the other hand seem to have almost horrible composition skills, and the few that do observe good dialogue approach, seem to be heavily corrupted by the art of twisting around facts and misrepresenting themselves and their console standing. So really, it's just a fad.
Oh, and PS3 is backwards compatible? Are the fanboys so ignorant now that they've forgotten SONY's abandonment of backwards compatibility since the summer of last year? No. PS3 is not backwards ccompatible. I am getting one soon, and I know it won't be running my PS1 or PS2 list of games.
