Well good old vandalvideo has assured me that a PC gamer would not hesitate to connect there PC to a standard def TV if it meant they could sit on the couch. Just want to see what every else thinks.

Yes, why not? It's a choice. I hook my PC to my HDTV and my 360 to a monitor. Am I doing it wrong? Who cares? It's no different then hooking a console up to a standard TV.

I wouldn't do it. But thats just cuz my monitor is much better than either an SDTV or an HDTV.

I'd rather hook up my monitor to my cable box/consoles than the other way around.

Well that would be the obvious reason not to, which is really my point of view.

realistically most of today's PC games would look horrendous on a standard def TV especially a larger screen.

youd be surprised. maybe in comparison to the same game at 720p or 1080p or soemthing but they dont look bad by any measure.

i used to play crysis on my tv and it still looked great it looked average with no AA, but at that res 16x AA was very feasible

they'd look about the same as 360 games on an sdtv. which would still be much better than last gen.

i've played CoD1 on an SDTV. it looked much better than any console game at the time.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. It's like when they brought out those tiny tellies for the Cube. You can do it, but there really wouldn't be a point.

But what if their monitor broke and the TV was the only option after that? :P

I actually had to use my HDTV as a monitor when my old piece o' crap Acer monitor died. I stopped gaming on it and just used to turn my PC on for checking emails because they're simply not built for that.
