What the hell is going on here!? So now we're launching top of the line titles as betas, AKA early access trash from PC

So now they're not even trying anymore. I guess the day 1 patch was too much? Now they're giving us the games incomplete with the Day 1 patch becoming the Day 100 patch?

but seriously, early access is generally reserved for indie/first time developers; can't say I approve of major developers and publishers using this tactic, whether it is on PC or console platforms.

with that said, participating in betas is often fun as you get to contribute to the games development; whether it be by testing for bugs, balancing issues, and more, its nice to see progress in a game you're fond of.

TBH I find it a bit odd you are taking issue with this; if these games are important to you, wouldn't you want to aid their development?

This is unfortunate because, as we all know, you have absolutely no choice to wait for full releases and must always buy every early access game the instant it shows up, no matter how incomplete.

Sadly you guys should expect more of this, and yes PC is a major point of blame. Hitman is coming as beta / half-finished.

It's about getting money early, and also involving the community in the creation. Vote with your wallet and buy the complete games, avoid the betas.

Well you have the choice, play the game before it's finished or do what you normally would and wait for it to be completed and released properly. It all comes down to how impatient you are.

I've been invited to numerous, open and closed, betas over the years. I rarely accept them because I generally don't want to play an unfinished game and potentially spoil it for myself. Even with Star Citizen (which I have backed with quite a bit more than the average) I only briefly try it whenever a major update is launched because I want to whole game, not a part of it.

I really hope the devs know what they're getting into though. A couple of million screaming children, spamming their website with how they are going to kill the family and friends of anyone involved with the game because it isn't working properly, doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

Gran Turismo was doing this before the PC's early access phase in life. I'm pretty sure they called it prologue last time.

PC ruining console gaming? I was looking forward to advanced AI improvements now that the 7th gen ended. What did we get instead? Tablet class CPU's...

Considering the amount of DLC trash console players eat up, it's no surprise that publishers are happy to try more ways to farm the herd.

PS4 is a "supercharge PC" LOL.

Beta is the new demo. Also a cheaper way to QA before release.

I think betas are becoming counter productive, sure it helps them make a better game to get feedback, but in ways they're replacing demos, and people are letting their beta experience be the determining experience when picking up a game or not. Why not just hire so full time geeks who love playing games and pay them a decent salary to play these games non-stop before release to help iron out issues?
