People exected too much from the PS3.

REWIND to late 2005. MS comes out with the 360. it has HD graphics better than anything, online, achievements. also the games that were exclusie for it really were beautiful, at the time. however, people recognized the lack of hddvd drive, and a processor that the ps3 could easily crush, in theory.

when the ps3 was announced, with its 7 core processor and blu ray drive, everyone was imagining what kind of gaming awesomeness could be achieved with this power and space.

as time went on it has come to be obvious that sony has not used any of that power and space to create games that could not be done on any other console.

the reason these ps3 games keep flopping is that they COULD be so much better. we were promised 4D(dunno what it means), we were promised 120 FPS (if fps meant 1st person shooter, then 360 beats it, but with frame rates it cant be done). so when these games keep coming out, they are anticipated as the game that will show us all the power of cell processing, but end up just being pretty games with old and tired mechanics.

I kind of agree but ps3 is just out half a year worldwide, lemmings have been bashing the ps3 before it came out worldwide and 360 barely has any good exclusives apart from a few, ps3 was hyped too much and to a certain extent it's their own fault

You do know that the system has only been out for a year (roughly), right? The "big" games that have been released so far are not the main draws on the system. When MGS, GT5, TEKKEN 6, FFXIII, and SOCOM all flop and look like crap, then tell us that we got too excited. NavigatorsGhost

Bah...360 games were excellent from the moment the machine was released. After a year Gears of War and a bunch of other great titles were released. I remember not being able to decide what game to buy next last xmas.

Everybody( except Cows, of course) knows that the PS3 is a total failure. I wonder Sony fanboys know this deep down inside. If not, its time to wake up.

IE, just wait? You know, my PS3 has seen very little use, so much so that I'm feeling sorry for it and buying Assassins Creed just so my PS3 gets some use. Sacrificing my 360 achievements in the process...

I agree, people expect so much from the PS3 becuase of it's price tag, the promises made by Sony, and the sheer success of the previous two Playstations, that what the PS3 is giving us just isn't meeting the expectations.
Yes it's trailing in last place, but no, there's still plenty time for it to compete. It hasn't failed as so many lemmings like to scream from their rooftops, but if 2008 doesn't meet (or preferably, excel) it's hype...then the PS3 may end up failing.

Personally I love my PS3, but I'm not as blind as my total fanboy friend is (who sings the PS3's praises ignoring it's faults).

People only expected a super computer that would replace their current pc's and a true hi definintion gaming machine that would output 1080p for all games and run them at 120 frames per second and last for dozens of hours due to the mega space on the blu ray discs. Plus we would get to play these exclusive mega games with the revolutionary, rumble less, sixaxis controller and we would be playing free on psn with online features that rivaled Live.

First game of that caliber on the 360 was Gears, which came out, roughly 1 year after the console launched.

uh, people are still playing Socom 2 on their last-gen PS2 systems using Sony's crappy internet adapter...

Having said that, the PS3 is far from being the loser this gen, as it's still early. Still plenty of time for the PS3 to get some big time games.
