[QUOTE="cainetao11"]Why? Are they being paid 6 billion to show up? Seriously, they need to reassess the current market. I know tons of first party exclusives are pleasing cows, but lets be real. It isnt making bank for them. Maybe cutting back is needed for the time being. I like games as much as anyone, but I'd rather see them do what they need to in order to have a long, relevant future, than pump out tons of exclusives, not make enough on them and slowly die because they cant change with a changing market.ShadowMoses900
PS3 exclusives make them a ton of profit, just in a different way, let me explain: The average PS3 exclusive sells about 5-8 million, the average 360 exclusive defianetly sells a lot more. However this is because 360 owners don't have as many options, so MS put's their eggs all in one basket so to speak, if you want an FPS shooter on Xbox you can only buy Halo, so all the money just goes to that one game.
PS3 owners however, are much more forturnate, we have options. If we want a FPS we get to choose between Killzone, Resistance, MAG ect....so the money is spread is more spread out over those games. Same goes for many of the other genres, 360 just one game, PS3 multiple games. If you combine the sales from the PS3 exclusives they end up making the same amount (or more) as 360 exclusives do.
Just a different strategy, but it works, especially for the gamer because they get more options and more games to play. One title may not sale Halo records, but the exclusive sales combined do. Sony isn't going anywhere.
I gotta disagree with your assumptions. Especially that. Ps3 exclusive games generally sell over a million but rarely past the 5 million mark with the exception of Uncharted and other top franchise. MS exclusives sell much more because MS pumps so much money into advertisement. Honestly outside of GoW and Uncharted, ps3 exclusives like Heavy Rain, and Journey and countless others have no mainstream marketing. They depend so heavily from review word of mouth which constitutes the 1-3 million sales of the game. If Sony marketed their games better they would sell so much more. Little Big Planet 2 was another perfect example of a game that could have attracted lots of casual and hardcore gamers but they did not capitalize on the advertisement.
