I was honestly surprised to see this lol. Thoughts, SW? Do you feel better about the Perfect Dark reboot after seeing this trailer? I didn’t think it was bad, but wanted to see the multiplayer .

It looks great! Not sure what is scripted and how much freedom you have in missions. But I’m excited to see more of this game.

Surprisingly it looks great. Almost immersive sim like experience.
Yeah I'm happy with the POV (first person) and it being mainly focussed on stealth and deception.
yeah me too. mild deus ex hr and mankind divided vibes. hoping there are multiple ways to tackle situations e.g. voice recording to get access to the target's last location was cool, but there needs to be other ways to get in. trailer suggests there's day / night cycles too which could be nice and open up different options to daylight when in cover of darkness
That looks amazing, gave me Mirror's Edge vibes mixed with a spy shooter. Just want to see something less scripted to get a better idea.

It makes you wonder why MS didn't put Arkane Austin on this project long ago instead of just shutting them down like a bunch of morons.
You mean giving the game to the makers of Redfall; a game hated by folks who have and haven't played it, would be brilliant move?🤔 A rather interesting perspective.

The devs hated working on Redfall themselves. Terrible management by both Bethesda and MS. Arkane Austin worked on Dishonored and Prey. They had the pedigree for this type of game. Don't put them on shit projects they don't want to work on and then close them down when it fails.

And your solution for a studio you claim is terribly managed is to give them Perfect Dark. Did you forget that Prey was lambasted for being a buggy mess when it was released? That was their last major game before Redfall.
At the end of the day, a studio is responsible for the content they produce.
@Pedro: I was suggesting they come on as a support studio like Crystal Dynamics was brought in. This would buy them time to get back on their feet and get back to making their own games. Again, terrible management all around and a waste of talent. Sadly, buggy games are the norm these days. They are in the same boat as other devs in that regard.

If they were going to be support that is fine. No real issue with that sentiment. I cannot comment on the management because I don't have information on that topic.
We have to remember that running a studio is not charity work. It cost money. If you had to foot the bill to keep the studio open while it is unable to deliver, you would not be as understanding. (A guess I am wagering)
Edit: Folks weren't forgiving with Redfall for its bugs so I can't say I agree with they are the same boat as other studios. Gamers and the media slaughtered their last two games.

This is slaughtered?
Prey was well received and is a good game. Yes, it released broken like many other games these days. I played it after patches and enjoyed it a lot.
Bugs or not, Redfall is just shit and never should have been greenlit.
Yeah... not impressed. And I've been a fan since the N64 game. Would've thought after Doom '16, MS would embrace the old school shooter aspect for modern audiences. NOPE!

Making an "oldschool"/n64 Perfect Dark would be a failure.
@Pedro: Didn't you admit you never played the original? How would you know then?
There are indie games inspired by the N64 era of shooters. Plus, Wolfenstein TNO (MS own since they own ID and Bethesda) even went the route of classic PD/GE 64 in it's design.
Don't like her jawbone.
Don't worry, it's first person: you'll never see it.
Perfect Dark had cutscenes.
Doesn't matter, looks like a bust. Oranges react, like Halflife 2.
Don't care for her design, find this generic first-person parkour rote at this point, and centering gun before almost every shot makes me not want to play it.

Honestly Grant Kirkhope not being in this one is a way bigger deal than what a female happens to look like:
I tried but they went with someone else

I wish people weren't this obsessed with looks, it would mean less skins get sold as well; but hey, that's just me.
As the self proclaimed biggest fan of PD on SW, i did not like what was shown whatsoever.
What are the two most memorable things in the original game? Exotic locations and 10/10 soundtracks that are still engraved in my brain to this damn day (if you disagree, you were never a fan of the original game). None of this is present here. Looked like some generic fps with some stealth and a TomClancy sticker on the box.
Pathetic work from the studio.
I am of course still interested, and would like to be wrong cuz this is by far THE game i want to succeed most, but after i saw her jaw, my hopes are at an all time low.
I swore this was Mirror's Edge 3 before I heard that a dude call her Dark.
Might have literally just bought a in development Mirror's Edge 3 title and just slapped Perfect Dark name over it and ran with it.

Not going to play it anyways, looks boring even ignoring her big chin.
Play Duke3D or Quake 2 instead.

They moved many of the Arkane group into other Bethesda studios. As for Redfall, the game and design was being made before MS bought the group.
Seems someone was calling this vaporware just weeks ago. lol :P
Anyway, looks awesome, can't hardly wait!! :D
Looked exceptionally generic to me. The 64 version at least had a style and vibe. This looks like they didn't know what to do with it.

I loved Prey when it came out. To this day still prob the biggest difference between review scores (IGN and GS) and my actual experience. That IGN reviewer was salty he got hit with a bug that wiped his progress so he gave a 4/10. A bug that was fixed before launch day. Looks like they have since updated the score to an 8/10.
Anyway. Didn't much of the creative talent at Arkane Austin leave during the Bethesda acquisition? I do agree this game looks like something they would have excelled at during some point in their history. I think that time has past tho.
Hopefully Perfect Dark turns out to have a similar feel. I'd love to see more single-player FPS immersive sim games. I crave them.
Nintendo looking at this thinking "we used to own this."
They used to own this back when RARE was an insanely talented crew of people. If they owned RARE and the IP to this day, their version of PD reboot would've been like Nuts n Bolts shovelware.
Looks interesting. I loved the 1st Perfect Dark. I wonder how far away it is from being released.
Prob a Q4 2026 game.
