First, This is not a flame thread, and I really do not want it to become one so please post accordingly.
Now onto my point; The week after X-Mas, I was one of the lucky ones to wind a Wii in stores... and guess what!?! with that magical price point, I bought one.
At first it was amazing, Me and my famlily, even my non-gaming girlfriend loved the wii and thought it was so much fun. However, as the weeks went on I began to realize why I didn't own a Gamecube in the previous generation. I played through Zelda, Red Steel, COD3, R*3. but I felt it more of a chore than an enjoyable time. Then, to aid my current state, I began reviewing all of the "Awesome" titles on the horizon
Super Smash Mario Galaxy Metroid Prime 3 ... ... And I realized,..."I am not that big of a nintendo games fan"? In fact I have been looking at most of these games as "Rents", while I have already been reserving and bugeting for my next 360 games. For refrence, I am a 20 year old male. I am yet one more gamer consumed my the console buying hype season. Be it 360/PS3/ or Wii.
Anyway, I was just wanting to share some of the things I have been thinking about recently, and please do not take this as a personal slam to Wii owners or Nintendo games, As I am just talking about my own opinions and obviously not those of all gamers.
And I was wondering is there anyone that has felt the same way about a console you purchased?
People should do more research into these things before buying. If you don't like the games that's your own fault for getting the system then, and you shouldn't bother telling us about how you're bored.
I regretted buying a gamecube so much. I hated the thing. I mean sure it had a few great exclusives but the droughts were long and horrible and the third party support was non existant.
I'm not really a big fan of Nintendo games anymore. Thats the main thing holding me back on the Wii since in the past the best games have typically been the 1st party Nintendo games (or Rare in the case of the N64) and then the 3rd party support lags. No real interest in Mario Galaxy, Pokemon, Smash Bros, minimal interest in Zelda or Metroid 3. I feel like I'd end up disappointed with it like you if I bought a Wii now. Another system I was never happy with was the original Xbox. Never found many games there that interested me. I also had a PS2 and all my gaming dollars were going there. I only bought maybe 3 Xbox games and only one of them wasn't a cheap bargain bin game. So naturally I was pretty apprehensive about buying my 360 but so far its going great.

You can end up with buyer's remorse even if you spend tons of time researching. You've never bought something that sounded great but then just wasn't what you were hoping for? Or never made an impulse buy? It happens to a lot of people. If you don't want to read about it close the topic and move on.

Because the question wasn't which is best, but which is most satisfying. Well, thats one in the same to me. But its not. I agree that the PS2 is the BEST console on the market, all things considered (price, library, support etc). But perhaps because of my taste in games I am more satisfied with the Game Cube, or Xbox 360 etc.
I'm very happy with mine :) Sucks that you don't find it interesting. But, you do realize new ips will come out for it? Look at the 360, it's getting new ips out the wazoo even though most people would say it's biggest hit this year will be halo 3.
It doesn't seem like you've seen the Wii lineup in depth. There's more to be excited about than that. How is playing with it a chore? If you're feeling lazy you can just flick your wrist while sitting on your ass.
I would say GameCube, but I bought it for 50 bucks.....I hated Metroid Prime, Paper Mario2 and Mario Sunshine. But I enjoyed Baten Kaitos (the story, the game itself was boring), ToS, Wind Waker, but I never played them again. SSBM, was the only game that I played that have replay value for me.
I played with my friends wii today and it was awesome. I'm definetly getting one, but not until the next SSB is out, the next mario, and so on. It looks like I wouldn't regret buying it at all.
