Okay, was bored, so decided to do a little side by side comparison...

Just note my TV is a Panasonic Plasma 42PZ77U (42 inches)

Everything is set at default in terms of console settings meaning anything you could change regarding video settings have been defaulted (360 black level..etc..)

The TV is running at 1080p for both systems, using an HDMI cable (same cable brand and length)...

Also both HDMI ports are running at the same Settings regarding brightness, color, tint, and sharpness...both were optimized using the THX calibration disc.

Now right of the bat I didnt notice a big difference, nothing mind blowing. But heres what I discovered...

PS3 isnt as sharp as the 360...it has kind of a blurred effect, and because of this the colors dont "pop" like the 360 version and seem slightly washed out...This is real evident, in the times demo, when you enter the first door...

The light above the door is a lot brighter than the PS3 version, and its even more evident, when you walk towards the middle, and look at the staircase with the windows in view (with the sun shining through the windows)

But wait, because of this "blurred" effect it seems edges are more softer, or what we would call less "jaggies" in the PS3 version...but were talking a miniscule difference, the difference isnt as big as the color vividness difference.

Now dont get confused, I dont know if the lighting is better on the 360 , I never really tested farther than the first room, its not really a lighting thing in this room, its a color thing, and how they seem a lot brighter and therefore more vivid.

So in terms of graphics, Im gonna say they are about even, with a slight edge going to the PS3 (softer edges) but in terms of color vividness the 360 wins hands down. So it depends on what you want...less jaggies, with an slight overall "blurry" (blurry isnt necesarrily bad) experience with the PS3, or a sharper (meaning slightly more jaggies) and more colorful experience with the 360.

Interesting find: During the cutscenes, the PS3s screen fills up my screen to wheres I have maybe 1/2 inch of black bars on the top and bottom..the 360 gives me an full inch of black bars top and bottom. So a more filled up screen during cutscenes on the PS3

Controls: The PS3 controller feels a lot more comfortable here, mainly because of the R1 button.

I will be picking up the 360 version, as I can get used to the controls, and with achievments and rumble its an easy choice for me. The graphic comparision is not enough to sway me either way, because they both look great on both systems, and honestly, your not gonna notice unless you run them side by side.

Whatever differences you find, just keep in mind that it has nothing to do with what either console is capable of.

Seems from what I have read the only real difference between versions is the price. However in Australia alot of retailers are doin each version at the same price so I am gonna go with PS3... it just feels better on that controller.

The game is due out in a week...I doubt there will be any graphical differences from the demo to retail

Turn Full RGB on for the PS3 and that 'blurryness' will be gone.

Could be...mine was left off...all those console settings were off for both systems...I didnt notice a difference either, EXCEPT when I played it side by side...

I dont want to get bombarded by flame boys, Im just posting what I found...IMO, its not a purchase for me, its more of a rental. I dont know, without MP, a lot of games are rental for me these days.

Would it make you feel better, if I retested when both come out? Ill rent both versions from Gamefly and repost up, but I think when a comparison video comes out my results will probably be reproduced there also.

No it didnt help the blurryness, I dont know how turning that setting on would.

BUT it did help with the color, it did seem better than the first test run...still not as vivid as the 360, but definetly an approvement over its default...

Also, the frame rate seems more smoother on the PS3, whether this is an actual FPS thing, or the way it seems because of the "blurred" effect, I honestly dont know.

Are you going to buy him the PS3 copy? Why is comparing the demo a problem again?

You can't be serious? Did his post sound like a rabid fanboy post? It pretty much mirrors everything that others have said.

Really wish I could, but I dont have the set up for that....Im confident when a side by side video comparison comes out, my results will be reproduced, provided they defualt the console settings.

the motion blur is to hide the jaggies. 360 version has better AA. You can see more appearent jaggies in some situations on the PS3 version.

but other than that, good comparison

That's what I thought as soon as I read his review. The RGB does make the color much better in games. He should always have it on unless he is one of the few people with a TV that doesn't support it, but his Panasonic does.

@rappid_rabbit Just curious on the lighting because quite a few people have noted there is better lighting on the PS3 version particularly the ice level. Is that true? It seems the general consensus has been X360 a little bit sharper, PS3 a little better framerate and better lighting. Really though I think we are nitpicking at this point both versions are so close.

Well like I said, I dont know about the lighting, but for color wise...its the 360 that has the more vivid colors, turning on RGB did get rid of some of the washed out colors for the PS3 though.

Because we don't have the retail versions, and a demo is supposed to convince us to buy the full game. Duh..

I guess well have to wait for the retail...from what I have seen, the PS3 has less jaggies...Im sure from the blur...but because of this reason, I doubt I will see "more apparant" jaggies relavtive to the 360 version.

people just need to let go an accept that the 360 version looks better. theyre demos, yes, but their so close to the final versions that it really doesnt matter that theyre demos. im probably going to buy it for my ps3 anyway since my girlfriend likes DMC and has the others and wants this one. i dont see the big deal in admitting the 360 version is better looking when there is so much proof in pictures, videos, and customer testimonials.
