When I see GoW, no matter if the thread is talking about futuristic shooters, or ancient badasses who become gods, I still read "God of War". Granted I quickly correct myself, but... Why do people use the GoW acronym for Gears, when GeoW is more accurate?
God of War came first, and thus it earned the GoW acronym. GeoW or simply "Gears" is just as easy, and takes much less brainpower to process than throwing in the wrong acronym. No matter where your inner fanboy lies, GoW should = God of War, and GeoW = Gears of War. Thats just how it works. First come first serve. Maybe I'm just making a big deal of it, but seriously...
Feel better now? Honestly, the brutality dealt to the written word here at SW is far more disturbing to me, but hey, we all have our little annoyances.

It was something that has been bugging me for a while now. and since this is yet another "slow day" here on system wars, seeing a thread on "Gears of War vs Gears of Evil" (*sigh*) kinda made me desire to make yet another useless thread that discussed nothing of dire imporance, but yet was still something I would bring up with a group of friends or something, just to make convorsation.

This argument can be said both way's as when I look at it I think of Gears of War as I played that game way longer than I did God of War. GoW is an accurate acronym for both games and just because you read it as God of War doesn't mean other's have to abide by the GeoW acronym.
Do you have to post that in every thread you post in? It might have been funny the first 2 or 3 threads you posted it in, but by the hundreds it just makes you look like a tool...

GoW = Gears of War when obviously it should be that in the context. I use gow all the time when I mean gears of war, you do realize ancronyms often have multiple different meanings to them. There is no "first come first serve", and it is almost always easy to distinguish what the person means.
