Peter Molyneux leaving Lionhead and Microsoft

Molyneux is exiting both his position as the leader of Lionhead and his role as the creative head of Microsoft Studios Europe, which primarily consisted of overseeing Lionhead and Rare. Lionhead will be run by studio co-founder Mark Webley. Microsoft is not immediately naming a new head of the European studios.Molyneux will move on to an as-yet unpublicized independent venture, one that ends his tenure at Lionhead. Interesting news, I did enjoy Fable 2 (haven't played 3 yet) and always enjoyed his enthusiasm, be interesting to see what his next project will be.

Always thought Peter brought a little "flavor" to the industry, but I think it was time.. Lionhead needs a fresh new take on the Fable franchise.. and possible venture out into another IP.

My personal opinion on this, I think Peter took the corporate "you know what" shafting from MS for too long and decided enough was enough. That speech at GDC should have been a prequel to these events. If anything I think it's a great thing and maybe now he can actually implement his ideas in to a game as MS did take out alot of his ideas for Fable 2 (as confirmed by Peter himself) Still a shame that MS own the Fable IP :(dragonps

I sure hope he is going to go back to Bullfrog-quality games and as far from crappy fables as he can get.

Let him get a small independent team and allow him to make new strategy game for PC and I can guarantee you it will be high AA/AAA status.
