:? I do not know about you guys, but limiting the combat system, spells, ect to only a small handful of simple options sounds to me like the game could get repetitive awfully fast for an RPG. I am still excited as hell for Fable 2 though, as I loved the first one. What do you guys think? Link:

So instead of getting 100 bland magic spells that all do the same thing, you get 20 unique magic spells. I think that sounds better.

I'm just glad he's not hyping the hell out of it like he did last time. The thing that makes me kind of interested is the fact that apparently everything can be bought, and there is a quest for each piece of land.

I don't mind, I think the original made you think a little too much about what action to use in the thick of battle personally. He recently made a statement that combat in these type of games needs to feel cool and very kinetic above all else, its worth trying.

I haven't read too much into Fable 2 yet, but one thing I do hope for is a free roaming open world this time like the original should have had.

Less is more for an RPG :?

One Button Combat System :?

He might as well say that he's lazy and has given up.

Well he didn't really say how many there will be so theres not much to say about that yet. Although I do agree that its better to have fewer but better and more usefull atacks then more but random. There were many spells in fable that went unused.

Mr. Molyneux blabberin about more garbage..

Just maybe, Fable 2 will be half the game he says it will be. I might pick it up if I still have my 360 by the time..doubt it though.

Games like WoW or Guild Wars have many many more than 20 unique spells, Guild Wars has something like 150 PER class.

20 unique spells isn't very creative still.

Oblivion had a lot of repetitive spells, but if you just count the unique types of effects, there were probably around 50-70.

20 spells isn't a lot no matter how you spin it.

I do not know about him being lazy and giving up, lol, but I sort of agree with the rest of your post, and that is what concerned me about his "less is more" comment. I was hoping that he would deliver in trying to perfect on what he originally aimed for with Fable 1. I mean, the more options, and ways to play the game that you have, the more replay value you are going to get out of it is the way that I see it.

Regardless, I am still excited for the game, as I really dug the first one, I was just hoping that Fable 2 was going to be bigger, better, with more choices in order to make a timeless game that you never really get tired of playing because of all of the various choices that you have. We shall see I suppose.

In WoW sme classes you dont need more than 20. Hell, some classes like the hunter can get away with using 10 full time

LMAO....indeed. But, the thing is, what advertisements say is more times then not quite different from the reality of the situation in the end. How many times have you used "less" Charmin, only to have your fingers rip through the paper? In essence....sometimes more is better.

You should play a really good RPG like Baldurs Gate 2. It's not as if there isn't enough influence out there.

Exactly, but still, who is to say that all of the spells will automatically be "bland" just because there is a wide variety of them to choose from, lol? I personally think that Lionhead just has a fear of making the game too complex because they know that it will not sell anywhere near as well if made that way. Too bad for the people who love deep, complex RPG's I guess. I still think it will be a good game though, just limited.:(

Give it a chance, the one button combat system is not as simple as pressing the button to swing the blade and holding the button to power up.

Another game designer who talks too much. Like EGM says, he constantly promises the world but fails to deliver it all. I'm sure he'll think of one or two clever new ideas, but the way he speaks makes it sound like he is the Saviour himself. Just because your last name is thickly European does not make you more profound, Mister.

I'm not that worried about the choice list being small because there were few spells in Fable in the first place but to make up for that, they were completely different from each other.

I'm much more worried about the quests being very linear again as well as short. Taking advantage of the shield and slow time spells in addition to the fact that enemies get stronger as you do, I overpowered my character and blew through Fable in less than 18hours while finishing all the sidequests. Shortest and easiest RPG I've ever played.

The things you can do in this game are amazing, if everything he says gets into it. I think it'll get 8.5-9. But it might be game of the year if everything works out (one button attacks ex.) If it doesn't it still will be pretty good but we have to wait and see.

This guy is a failure and his games have been weak. Simple can be good, but only when appropriate. With this type of game, simplicity is more dangerous than complexity. This game will probably not score above 8.5.

so you guys says he's lazy for having a different control-setting, you havn't played it yet, why don't you try it out first before you judge it? in theory it sounds really nice. And in fable 1 you had like onley 1real (too) good magic spell, i used my sword more often than the spells

Exactly Baldur's Gate 2 had around 20+ spells per level, and as far as I can remember all of them were useful depending on how you made your character,

If Fable delivers on all of its promises, then it will be an incredible game. But as with anything Molyneux does, it's better to wait until it comes out to see what happens before getting too hyped up. Fable 2 still isn't quite the Project Ego concept, even if it turns out as it should, but it's pretty close.

Still, he's got a point. Sheer volume doesn't help if everything there doesn't really contribute. It's more important to make sure that every spell and ability has an impact than to have lots of spells or abilities.

I kinda like Molyneux. He tends to aim very high, and there are problems as a result of that, but he really gets excited about these concepts, and you can tell that he really likes making these games, and bringing his ideas to life. Just seeing him gush about how awesome it was that you didn't directly control the dog in Fable 2 showed me how passionate he is.

Let's just see if he knows howt to apply that to his video game.

Methinks that the naysayers of the one-button combat system don't know crap about it. The game looks...ambitious to say the least, and I can't wait for it. It looks like it could be a worthy sucessor to the first one.

Sounds like more rubbish from peter after bashing other rpg's he says stuff like this. I was not going to buy fable 2 anyway after the horrible 1st game thatI finished in 8 hrs. Then he dropped fable the lost chapters for more milkage, so he can keep his flop part 2.
