So, I'm on my fourth trip back to The Temple of the Ocean King on Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and I'm just about ready to throw in the towel on this game. But its an interesting conondrum because I'm absolutely loving the game as a whole, I don't want it to end, and it has been a great DS experience through and through... This damn temple though....guys.... I don't know if I can bite the bullet and go through this same place again. I mean the first time was great, the second was a tad annoying but tolerable, the third time I started nervously recognizing the direction this whole game was going...but now, the fourth...? And I'm sure there will be a fifth....maybe even a sixth....its the only place where you use the hourglass for god's sake!

Does anyone else share the same sentiment? By that i mean you absoluetely loved the game, but the Ocean King Temple is singlehandedly ruining your gaming experience...? i've invested too much time to just give up, but come on! Tell me the ending of this game is worth this monotony....

reminds me of my feelings on the triforce fetch quest in WW.

Everything was golden....all the way up to that point.

That being said I didn't mind the ocean temple....but I agree that it was repetitive.

Yeah, I hated the Ocean King Temple. I haven't finished it yet, but I say stick with it. At least the temple has checkpoints so you could skip ahead automatically instead of repeating those first few levels.

oh...and how many seacharts do you have?
because once you unlock all 4 sectors of the sea and get the phantom sword, you just gotta do the temple one more time in order to find Bellum
How do these games get 9's? When afterwards all I hear are complaints about the game.

Not really. I got that promotional package w/ zelda packed in w/ the DS. Only DS available in my entire city during the holidays, that I could find. With that said, Zelda is Zelda. The name is synonymous w/ quality. And I don't think if I did read the review the frustration of returning to that temple over and over and over would fully resonate w/ me until playing it myself.

Agreed, the temple annoyed me also. Other than that I thought it was a really great game.

The TotOK does suck big ones. But that's pretty much the only blight I can think of on this superb DS title.

I hear ya. The reviews that said you had to do that made me not buy the game. I only redo dungeons in games like Diablo where I can get new lootz.

Because the good out weighs the bad.

It was the only one aspect of the game that was really frustrating.
Plus, next time through, you don't need to deal with the Phantoms and their bull**** because by then you can kill them. That alone made the whole ending worth it for me. "Oh no! A phantom! I guess I'd better hide and cower... PSYCHE!" *stabs Phantom to death*
I liked the Temple of the Ocean King. It was repetitive, but there were always secrets to discover with new equipment you had obtained, and you get to skip the first couple of floors after getting halfway through. They really should have allowed you to jump to the next floor however.

Still, the strategy and puzzles in the Temple made it IMO the best actual dungeon in the game, even if you were forced to trek through it time and again.

I loved everything about the game except for the Ocean King Temple. I didn't hate it and it was a very interesting concept but it wasn't really all that enjoyable. Its not ruining the game but its not helping it either.

People are like that.

Windwaker comes out, everyone hates it.

Twilight Princess comes out, everyone hates, Windwaker is god.

That, and the sailing sucked. Seriously, it was just boring, and nothing was really going on while doing it. You could fire at monsters, but that got boring fast, and wasn't even much fun to begin with. Luckily, the islands are closer together than they were in Wind Waker. I also thought the combat lacked depth. Those are my three main gripes. Other than that, fantastic game! 9.2 out of 10, for me. Also, this isn't a big gripe, but the game was a little short and INCREDIBLY easy.

That temple did get annoying, but it was worth it.

i loved the game overall

the temple was pretty tedious, and i had to redo it A LOT.. but it didn't completely ruin my experience

actually i blame my own ignorance for a lot of wasted time... i didnt realize how useful the phantom sword was the last time around until you absolutely had to use it.. and even then it took me a minute to figure it out

I actually found it interesting during the first 3 times I went there. But yeah, after the 4th, it did get alittle annoying especially when it takes alot longer to go threw the dungeon...

I didn't have any problem at all with the WW triforce quest, it was actually fun.

The Temple of the Ocean King on PH is horrible though.

Yeah, the ocean temple and the sailing were horrible but they're worth slogging through because the rest of the dungeons are so good.
