good or bad....

MS need to push the X360 more. even in the UK im finding ppl buying the Ps3 'just coz they've had a Ps2 for a few years & want a change' so MS needs to fight a big battle to get these people to choose a X360 instead!CwlHeddwyn
Yep I have experienced a lot of people who seem to think they are obligated to buy a PS3 in the uk, apparently they married Sony when they got their first PS :?.

Well, when since everyone in the UK owned a PS2, it seems logical to go to a console which has some backwards compatability with their games collections. Oh, and if you thought Blu-Ray players in USA were expensive, you should see the prices over here, so getting a PS3 seems like a good idea in that right too.
He resigned.
He worked there for 15 years
He said he'll continue to work on Playstation ( Similar to Kutaragi )
So all this nonsense talk of how its bad for Sony and how MS should snatch him up is BS. He has probably stacked enough dough that he doesn't need to work actively and will just be a passive member so to speak ( like Kutaragi once again ).

They just better find somebody darn good to replace him, Phil Harrison was a great guy. I'm just hoping this isn't because of his comments about SCEJ.Aidenfury19SCE and SCEJ are like two diff. branches of the company. Decisions or comments made in SCEA, SCEJ or SCEE are completely independent of eachother.

This is a massive loss for Sony. Phil was a brilliant keynote speaker and did ALOT for SCEE. He is an even bigger loss than Peter Moore and this cannot be good for Sony. The idea of Kaz Hirai vs Shane Kim doing keynotes makes me feel sleepy.dblinWhy? If he's still going to be working on Playstation, how is it bad for Sony?

lol ever read between the lines - its a large company, do you think they would honestly say that there were troubles and that it was a bad split. Its just being reasonable - ya know how actors say in movies I LOVE THAT DIRECTOR he was a such a joy to work with and wow those other actors were fantastic. Just because he says that does not mean hes going to stick around or that there was not problem with Sony Japan.....youngen.

No again I'm sure your wrong, the weight of Sony lies in Japan - seriously you have to be what....13 and pretending to know things.

That's what they call it when you get fired from a real company. Stop the damage control. This is a huge loss for the company, and will likely cost them sales, and exclusivity on certain games, in the future.
That's what happens when your best employee is fired. It would be like if Nintendo lost Iwata, or MS lost that guy they lost right before the 360 went down the tubes. Seriously, I'm not kidding. Losing your best and most prominant PR man is NOT good for business, if you think otherwise, your lying.
He probably got fired for laughing at Sony Japan about Nintendomination, and their unwillingness to enter the casual market in Japan, which cost them the sales race there.
Meh, all this guy did is read lines on a screen and make false comments.
So yeah this is good for Sony... Clearing out the rubbish and cleaning up their act.
+1 Sony!

Because he was a big part of that team. YOu dont just take a guy like that out and expect all to be well. Yes he may still be doing some things for them, but not the full 100% they were getting. I mean we could all be wrong, and simply underrating some of the depth at sony, but Until proven otherwise this is a tough loss to not have Harrison with full hands on anymore.
good!
the most arrogant of all the sony reps .. i disagreed with everything he had to say; one of the biggest fanboys
akif22
*looks at sig, disregards everything you just said*
but seriously speaking, he was good. But i dont think its as big as some people are making it out to be..

Generally speaking with a high level executive of a major company departs, it's announced many months in advance. Phil is leaving at the end of this week. This is more than just a simple resignation. There's something much bigger going on.
My opinion is that Phil is indeed leaving of his own will, but the speed of which he is departing suggests he is headed for something very very big. The Atari rumor is likely, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him with Microsoft next week. But his comments are certainly suggesting that he's going to some major publisher though, so my bet is that he's going to either EA or Activision and will head up something big over there.

not sure if it was posted already - but get this. he left for ATARI.
left Sony, for Atari.
this is too easy, i'll leave it to the others. maybe he was too embarassed about Sony phasing out backwards compatibility to shaft consumers.
That is a rumor. :|http://kotaku.com/360263/phil-harrison-is-joining-atari

That means they'll take him out back and shoot him. Haven't you noticed Kutaragi just disappeared? He resigned.

What makes this an even bigger loss for Sony is that one of Harrisons jobs was heading up Sonys game studios worldwide. Which means he had a hand in all first party games. Plus he was a good speaker even with the accent. Now cows will have to warm up to Jack Tretton, lol.[QUOTE="3picuri3"]That is a rumor. :|http://kotaku.com/360263/phil-harrison-is-joining-atari

that is a very well sourced rumor. i'd give it 90% chance of being true. generally rumors about where people are going to work prove to be true - i can't recall one that was false. but yes - as of now, it's an extremely well sourced rumor.
