1000 vs 1000 until it got nerfed :(
i don't remember the end result but there was so much lag it became instanced
eeeeeeeeww... 1k VS 1k? i can barely stand the 32 player matches >.>BrunoBRSit's not as bad as you might think. it actually worked pretty well with hundreds of players.
I've heard how good it was. Do a lot of people still play? Does it still require a monthly subscription?

it's more like the opposite of that. ever see starship troopers? it's like that where you have mobilize the infantry, but except for being an RTS it's an FPS and every player counts. You can be a pilot if you want and drop passengers into a hot zone.

i trust you because you have a pink floyd avatar. sounds like MAG, from what i heard of the latter... but with 10 times the players at the same time.as long as it's not crowded, thus making it a sniper fest where everything that moves (and everything that doesn't) die in 3 seconds or less...[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"][QUOTE="Dead-Memories"] it's not as bad as you might think. it actually worked pretty well with hundreds of players. likeabrick

Planetside and Infantry were some of the funnest games I played during my teen years. i still remember when I was in 6th grade and first learned of Infantry. Too bad Planetside is now full of hackers and cheaters.

I remember when it was beta testing and free. I had so many friends on that game. Then it went paid and all my friends left. It's free again now I heard but only a fraction of the greatness that it once was.

i played beta too, what made that game was the community. amazing community in beta, p2p wasn't as good
mega huge battle games were a fad that was over and done with in a year or two.
how many came out arond the time planetside was out? a dozen or so?
it was never very good which is why they are not around today.
why do you think mag is not talked about here and huxley was scrapped before it ever made it to beta stage?
What? There was actually a game that had 2000 player battles?
Wanderer5
It was an MMOFPS.
The only one running right now is WWII Online. I think I've done 250vs 250 before. You really can't tell numbers on the battlefield. It's just the nature of the game.

Huxley did come out, but it wasn't a MMO like Planetside or WWII Online was and it never made a US launch.

weird, huxley was hyped like mad there for a few months and then bam you never heard anything about it again. funny that it came out and nobody knew about it.[QUOTE="Wasdie"]

Take FFXIV and then add some Big Rigs into the mix and you'll have the level of suckage that game was at.
lulz! bummer i was kinda hyped about it there for awhile.
i was hoping the things i like about the mega battle games would be updated and made to work better.
also i wanted to see how it would turn out on console. huxley was kind of a big deal for the 360 back in 2005/2006.
not cancelled yet, gs still has a tba on the release date.

I can't see how 1000 vs 1000 would work. Even 30 vs 30 in Resistance 2 was overdoing it a bit...
Is it like MAG where it's split up in different parts of one big map?

The battles were big and several time had massive frontlines that stretched for a few kilometers.
In WWII Online each battle kind of follows teh same formula and if you used a time laps camera on the battlefield, you can see the front lines pretty visibly moving back and forth as the battle rages.

Huh. That actually sounds pretty ******* cool.
planetside came out in 2003, and you could have 1000 vs 1000 online battles, so i really don't know why everyone here thinks it's a next gen thing. it was a last gen thing
likeabrick
One of the best mass FPS battles I've ever participated in.
And the best part was that there was an incredibly strategical and deep gameplay to it all, it wasn't a chaotic mess with everyone running off doing their own thing, like how Battlefield games usually ended up in. It really felt like a proper battle..as close as one can ever get in PC games, i suppose.
BUT the fun really starts when the third faction joins in..then you have like hundreds on each three sides giving their all to capture a base or an island. All on the same map, no instances.
Most memorable experience was when I was playing as Terran Republic and defending our last base on a continent against a two prong attack from NC and VS. The sight of dozens of your faction players manning the walls and turrets desperately trying to push back the attackers, repairing damaged terminals etc etc and over the walls you can see armoured vehicles and tanks having a go at each other and if you look up at the sky, its full of tracer fire and missiles as pilots from all three factions battled for air supremacy.
Add in range artillery and aerial bombardment + strafing runs and all i can say is....WHERE THE **** IS MY PLANETSIDE 2?!?!

It makes me wish what could have been if Sony had released MAG for the PC instead of the PS3. Forget 125 vs 125. It would probably have been 500 vs 500 with a huge boost in graphics.
