No, not pirating. And while the idea seems rather obvious, I think you guys should all utilize this idea:

Friends. Friends are great people, especially if they are females. What I'm doing is this:

My one friend and I both have Wii's. My friend just got a 360, and I'm going to get a PS3 for Christmas. He has Halo 3 (Yuck), Call of Duty 4 (Even more yuck), and Fable 2 (I'll play it) so far. He plans on getting Dead Space, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, and maybe even Far Cry 2 for Christmas. I'm getting a PlayStation 3 with Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of the Patriots, Little Big Planet, Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge, and possibly Resistance 2. I'll only consider getting Resistance 2 if it gets over a 90 on GameRankings, which it won't, unless it does.

I think you guys are getting the picture here. We will play the games we have first, and then switch off consoles to play the games we missed out on without having to get the other system, and without our wallet crying. So I'll get to experience a lot more fun for a much lesser price. Seriously, when I think about it, there's no point in both us getting Dead Space. Why not just trade off?

Are you guys doing anything like this? I highly recommend it. Even if you aren't friends with the kid you want to do it with, you should still ask if he wants to do because you'll both benefit greatly.

I like to call it "friends with benefits."

i trade games with people that i know for like a month or over a vacation breakand stuff. It generally works out pretty well the only problem is that we ususally do it with older games. Obviously when a new game comes out we both want to O.D. on that for at least a month.

Well if that works out for ya then goog job.

I personally don't feel safe lending out my games..let alone my console to my buddies...
Fortunately I'm patient...so I can wait until games reach the bargain bin.

*Spoiler about Metal Gear Solid IV.*

Cloud_Insurance

You may have put the Spoiler tags in, but how the hell was I supposed to know it was regarding Metal Gear Solid IV?

That's like me coming into a Halo 3 thread and saying, *SPOILERS! Jack, the main character in BioShock, is being mind-controlled by the phrase 'Would you kindly." *END SPOILERS!* The people would assume it's about Halo 3, and could potentionally be spoiled if they haven't played BioShock yet.

So yeah, you deserve to be insulted.

Lending games to people is illegal?

No, but depending on the game you may be granting EA and/or Ubisoft the permission to break your legs.

All perfectly legal.

Are you just talking about online games? Because there's no user agreement that I agree to when purchasing a game... or do I?

I always borrow and exchange games with friends if they aren't heavily multiplayer dependent like Halo3, SC4, and COD4.. In those cases, I just buy it.

DeathScape666

There's always a EULA for games!!1! :o

Because technically you don't purchase a copy of EA/Ubisoft/whoever's game, you purchase the opportunity to play the hard copy of the game they provide for you. That's why its a "Liscense" agreement, because they're not selling it to you, they're liscensing it.

COMMUNISM!!!1!

Wow, I didn't know other gamers were so freaking defensive of their stuff. I'm glad I have real-life friends to trade games with. I will buy Mirror's edge, my friend buys Fable 2, and another buys Dead Space and that takes at least $120 off our spending woes. Sure, we could all but it on our own, but why bother when the games can be easily beaten in less than 2 weeks (at least that seems to be the case with Fable 2 and Dead Space).

I only trade games with 1 friend of mines who also has a 360. But that's not the norm really. I just usually buy my own games though, because sometimes when you buy a game that's really addicting such as Gears 2 will be, it's only right to get your own copy lol. No one will actually last a week or two without an addicting game.

Swapping systems was easier before your gaming system was the gateway to an online identity. What makes games like Resistance 2, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War 2, et cetera appealing is their online multiplayer. Playing with your friends is what makes those games fun - so unless you own the system, and you're playing once a week with buddies, you really can't even claim to be playing those games.

Really the best thing is for your friends to all buy the same system, and have some of the same games, so you can play online together.

where i stopped after you said yuck to 2 of my fav games on the 360

umm so yea get a ps3 over a 360

i rent most of my games from lovefilm but if i know the game will last me a while (example fallout3) then i will buy

No, I'll just use GameFly. The price of GameFly for two months is still less than buying one game in those two months. With that I get 2 games out and can keep them as long as I want. Makes much more sense than buying a couple of games a month and eventually getting bored of them and not wanting to play them again.

This is what I'll be doing. :D Well... not with the consoles but the games... and its only with my roommate. After what happened to my KotoR case and, still not having been given back my copy of SotC, I think I've stopped lending out games to friends.

But roommate, which is in the same house, is another story. He's buying Fallout 3, Gears 2, and Banjo while I'm buying (or have bought already) Fable 2, Resistance 2, and Left 4 Dead. Then other games this year are rentals or definite Christmas gifts (Chrono Trigger DS).

Damn right. You people need to get better friends, me and my mate always used to lend our PS1 games to each other, only reason I've not done it lately is because we've had different consoles and don't see each other as much since we go to different schools now. I still lend games out and borrow them from others though, I have friends who if it did get scratched they'd pay for another one since it'd be their fault.

Another thing you can do is wait until the price for those games goes down. It just depends on how patient you can be.
