i've had both, i sold the psp though. The DS has excellent games that you can play for 20 minutes here, 30 mins there... like on the bus to school or work. As for the psp, I found that it is more like a console because the games are less casual. I just didn't want to play 20 hour games at 20 mins a session on the bus, it would take months to finish a game. I won't play a handheld at home b/c I have consoles and a big screen tv for that.
ds=casual psp=more like a console
Whilst the DS offers much more interactive fungames, the PSP is more useful on the go, because of the better graphics and the ability to play movies. The DS is less of a multimedia center.lavalampbamboo
Oops! You can watch movies and use ur DS as a multimedia center buying some 3rd party apps. With that said the DS has a more unique library of games that you cannot play on the PSP where as you can take a hit in the grahics and play anygame on the PSP on the DS. This topic has been made so many times in SW and the DS always wins. It boils down to what game you want to play.

First you say the DS always wins, then you said it depends on what you like.. Make up your mind.. The PSP is quite promsing with the slew of new and great titles that are coming out.. Not as good of a library as DS but it may soon rival it with the numerous big game releases.. Its a toss up in the end it depends on what you like..
psp has better games and graphics than the ds 8)

Why did you create this thread, when you yourself are a fanboy? So much for unbiased accounts. Better Graphics? Yes. Better games? hahahahahahah.. BTW guess what came out today?
DS by far. PSP is ok, but it tries too much to be a portable multimeda centre or console...and less of a handheld gaming system. I would never watch movies on that little screen - and if I do I'm not paying a bunch of money for them. If I'm on the go I'd much rather use a portable DVD players - it's a lot cheaper in the long run, and better overall for playing movies.
PSP cause it's got better graphics, better online, better mulitmedia capabilites, and in my opinion better games.PS3Compass
I agree, theres a few 08 psp games that look really nice and Im glad I just bought a slim a month ago.
I own both. Each has its pros and cons for me personally...
PSP has multimedia, though I never use them (my cell phone has basically the same capabilities, and is more convenient). Online for the PSP is better, and I like that I can download demos and PS1 games (though I wish there was a better selection of each). Now the nub... the Nub. Ugh, this thing is perhaps the worst abomination to analog controls since the Atari 5200! Seriously, couldn't Sony have thought up something better?
Now my DS lite isn't as powerful as the PSP, and friend codes are more of a hindrance than anything else. There are demos for the DS too, but you have to get them from a download station (though Nintendo will soon enable demo downloads from the Wii as well). The touch screen can be a little annoying in certain games, however overall it's a lot more responsive as "analog" control.
Gamewise, there are definately more games that interest me on the DS. That's not to say however that there aren't titles on the PSP that interest me too.
Overall, I think the DS is better. I certainly take it with me more often (in part because the DS lite is smaller and lighter, and has a better battery life generally).

I refuse to download software illegally. It's against my moral code.[QUOTE="-Spock-"][QUOTE="ThePlothole"]PSP has multimedia, though I never use them (my cell phone has basically the same capabilities, and is more convenient). There is nothing illegal about it... the emu is even made by Sony.
If you own the original PS1 discs, what's the problem?

Why should he care about multimedia features? Why should he pay more for the handheld because of them? Why should any of us do that? We're gamers. Anyway, has the PSP's abysmal battery life problem been solved with the PSP Slim? I don't remember.

Hexagon_777
No, it remains the same since Sony shrunk the battery dimensions. A PSP Fat battery in a Slim will give you 8 hours though, but at the expense of the back cover and some comfort (it will stick out a bit).
