A new Human Rights study has asserted that anyone who plays a war based video game such as Modern Warfare 2 is actually verging on the border of being a war criminal. The research slammed game for violating laws on war and appealed for publishers to remind players about their actions.

Human rights groups played various games to see if any broke humanitarian laws that govern what is a war crime.

The study condemned the games for violating laws by letting players kill civilians, torture captives and wantonly destroy homes and buildings.

It said game makers should work harder to remind players about the real world limits on their actions.

Hey man, at least that gives people something to brag about while gaming. Also, does that make me a tactician because I play RTS/RTT/TBT/TBS games? Does it mean those who play eroges have tons of girls liking them? No, I think they are the ones blurring the line between fiction and reality.

Back on topic, I don't like these studies, and I'm sure a lot of us know it's stupid. These "ANALysts" believe that humans today are driven by whatever they are surrounded by. I believe everyone has self-control over anything else.

That's why I usually believe the opposite of what analysts state these days.

So they either played these games, in which case they are war criminals, or they didn't in which case they aren't entited to a proper opinion. It's quite simple they are just plain arrogant.

That's actually kind of offensive. When are the game industry's lobbyists going to grow a pair and start defending the industry in a loud way? Modern Warfare2 just shattered all entertainment records and yet games still get treated like it's nothing more than a curiousity born in the 50's.

Isn't the purpose of gaming to do things that otherwise would be off-limits? Escape reality? It's fantasy, people.

It doesnt say that people that play those games are war criminals it just says that those games allow war crimes to be committed which could alter how people see war crimes...yadda yadda
