Now lets get down to the niddy griddy friddy tiddy liddy briddy. 1. Playstation owners now spend at least $400 for their game console. 2. Next they must purchase a headset seeing as sony does not give one out of the box. this should be almost $100 for a nice wireless bluetooth headset. 3. Next, you must purchase a computer and internet connection. internet will be anywhere from 30 to 50 a month and the ps3's ten year plan will come up to $6000 to pay for the ps3s online. the computer will cost a few $1000 not to mention a wireless internet connection. 4. Now, lets talk about a television. If you want to game in hd and watch blu ray movies, you need an hd television set. a good on will cost around 4 or $5000. 5. Now chances are, your going to want video games and blu ray movies. i would estimate that by the end of the ten year span, you will have spent $1000 to $2000 on games, movies, hardware, and accessories to get the full experience out of your playstation. To buy these things will require you to use your car to go get them or use the bus. Total gas and transport costs will come up to $1000 in 10 years. 6. Now lets talk about electricity. ps3 uses alot of power, in fact, it uses $250 a year in electricity, just behind a medium powered fridge. again, the ps3s ten year plan will give the power usage an estimate of $2500. not to mention powering the television and the lights in the room you use to play your play station. 7. Maybe $500 to $1000 for the sofa you use to sit on while you play playstation. unless you sit on a chair, then $100. 8. Next, it could vary. if you have a tv and a playstation, chances are you need a room or a living environment to play it in. you may need an apartment or you may need a house. this could range from thousands of dollars, if your renting or even hundreds of thousands if you purchase a house. PS3 = $400 Headset = $100 Computer = $1000 Internet = $6000 Hdtv = $5000 Items/Transport = $3000 Sofa = $500 Electricity = $2500 Living Space = i will not include this but just know ps3 costs alot more had i added this amount in So the question people need to be asking themselves is not "is the Xbox 360 worth $1850? but is the PS3 worth $18 500?failstationreally? 100 dollar headset? thats funny because u can get one PLUS a game called socom for almost half of that. the other guys thread had merit, this is just outright lies.
lol
You forgot:
1)snacks to eat whilst playing
2) gas bill for heating to keep you warm
3) petrol/deisel to get your games
god, who knew gaming was so expensive... :|
This one sums my thoughts up well. This thread is not needed and you're just as bad as the guy creating the other thread.

You don't need any of that stuff. If you want to play games on a game system, you need the system, a controller, and a game. Thats it (not counting junk like electricity, shelter, etc). Tada!

Tada! actually no, those were REAL costs that REAL ppl had to pay for. 100 dollar headset is not.

They are not the same, and if they are not needed, then they are not factored into the cost.
Most of you are laughing and so am I but I dont think it was a joke thread if he put all that time to writing that. Well I guess that makes it funnier :D

Lvl 1 with 1 post named failstation writes obvious flamebait topic, but the topic doesn't get locked, nor does the obvious troll get flattened by the ban-hammer, yet we lose posters like Dreams-Visions every day for some trifling BS. Whatever you mods are snorting, break me off some of that. jjenkins78xThe mods must be asleep. Uncreative fad topics are annoying.

Thanks god for this informative thread, i was willing to spend $18,000 on a PS3 but now that i know is $18,500 i might not get one. What a rip off!!

Want is the key word there. If you unplug your router, does your PS3 still work and play games? I bet you it does. And lemming? Didn't I show you my setup yesterday night? How about showing us your setup so that we know you have an idea of what you talk about with the 360? if you WANT to play 360, you NEED to buy one lmao
[QUOTE="sargentbotk"]Spruce, how many times have you encountered a brick wall today? ye by his logic, do we even need a ps3 or 360? lmao @ turning this into a moral debate. No, you don't. I was using need in this case to refer to the basic desire to play a game. Those things that are needed to fulfill that desire. I stated that as well. You just did not read it.[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"] No, its a want. Internet access at all is a want, not a need. Perhaps people need to understand the distinction. PS3Fanaddict

"Want" and "need" are a slippery slope. For example, you can live without telephones, automobiles, and airplanes, but they are considered necessities in our society.
I consider internet access a necessity for game systems, though not Wifi because it is just one method of connecting.
When games have 5 hr campaigns supplemented by online suites that are designed to take up 90%+ of your gameplay, it seems like internet connectivity is a necessity. I seem to recall Half Life 2 not even installing on my PC until I could connect to the internet and Steam.
Nothing is "necessary" if you want to live in a cave and kill dinner with a spear, which is why I hate th word being used in arguments. There is no black and white to this issue.

You tend to do that, so I can only assume that you are a fakeboy. Not worth anyone's time to argue with you, since so far no one has agreed with you, and no matter who tells you in any thread you are wrong you just twist things and fall backwards, so whatever. Have fun with your $1800 360 ideas. 360 ideas? lol i have more fun thinking about and playing my ps3.
