Do you own less than 10 Playstation 3 games like me? TekkenMaster606
Let me provide what I seriously hope is the verbale equivalent of a kick in the face.
I have been playing games my whole life. I'm old enough to have owned and played the Atari 2600...when it launched, not bought off Ebay last week. While I haven't owned every console ever made since then, I have played %99.9 percent of them enough to form an opinion. It's what I consider I should do as a real gamer who is truly interested in gaming as a hobby and industry.
Not one single time IN MY LIFE, have I ever owned 10 games within 6 months of a console launch. Hell, I don't think I've ever owned 10 games in a YEAR of a consoles launch. With renting and borrowing from friends, there are options.
This is why I am begining to lose my cool when people act like how many games you buy somehow makes you more of a gamer. Or why I find it the pinnacle of stupidity for people to act like people owning fewer games or a console having a lower attach rate must somehow reflect poorly on a console. You know what? I have bills and a morgage. Frankly, I'm not going to buy ANY game unless I feel I will get my money's worth. Anything less I can rent and beat and only be out $5. So because it takes me over a year to buy $10 games does that mean I don't enjoy my console as much as some rich, spoiled 13 year old brat who has 30 games but cries about their possessions anyway?
Sorry to snap, but this is just getting ridiculous. This isn't even about consoles or even fanboys anymore. This forum is turning into little more than a d**K-measuring contest with a bunch of people to stupid to realize that being a blind consumer is NOT a reflection of your dedication or personality or even your self-perception of having hardcore gamer cred. If I took the original post out of context (I didn't read it all) then I apologize right now. But people seriously need to realize that just buying a bunch of stuff doesn't make you an expert on anything other than blowing money. What matters is your appreciation for what that stuff offers and provides. And if people are just buying crap without thinking or without any appreciation for it...then the aren't real gamers or collectors or anything else. They are consumers. And if this forum is a sign of what people think it takes to be considered a "gamer"...or anything for that matter...then that is really f***ing depressing.
