Do you own less than 10 Playstation 3 games like me?

I currently have Madden 2007, Fight Night Round 3, Oblivion, Resistance, Genji, and Untold Legends...

And here is why I am asking this, especially to you 'But I can play those "console exclusives" on my PC too!' type of people. Because that statement is really working against the Playstation 3. I hear about Wii and Xbox 360 owners that have massive collections but I have yet to really hear anyone brag about owning a huge chunk of PS3 games. Are you spending more money on those "Microsoft exclusvies" for your PC?

I am. Just look at what I own, 2 EA Sports titles (Because thost types of games are generally better on console). A WRPG that looks better on my PC, a good exclusive shooter on a console that would get lost in the sea of PC shooters and 2 launch games that I should have left on the shelf.

As a hermit and dedicated PC gamer the Xbox 360 may not offer anything different than my PC, but at least it's offering something compared to the nothingness in Sony land. My next purchase. MLB The Show, another sports title, go figure.

I own Resistance and F1.  I get my multiplats for 360 and probably won't buy any games except a few PS1 downloads until Heavenly Sword or MGS4.

I know someone who was thinking about getting the PS3 just to play the free demos because he couldn't afford to buy the games with the system.

I rented Motorstorm, was pretty fun. I'll wait for it to hit the $30 range used or something. And Tekken : DR, of course but I wasn't really considering downloads. I'm talking about retail games.

I'm just waiting to hear from those 'But I can play Bioshock and Command and Conquer on the PC cows'...

I have 4 disc based games and 2 downloaded games. Resistance Ridge Racer 7 Motorstorm Oblivion Flow Mortal Kombat II The system has been out for only six months. I think a game a month is more than fine for me. Yeah... they all didn't come out one month at a time, but I'm not going to spend $60 (disc based game) on a game for one I'm not sure about. Sony pushed back 75% of what I wanted all the way back to September... so I'll have a lull of no PS3 titles for a while. I did just buy Oblivion though, and that's like... a 100+ hour game, and I dont have tons of time to play... so it will probably take me that long to beat it. On another note, I can play all my PS1 and PS2 titles on my PS3. So it's not like it's just sitting there collecting dust either. In fact, I'm really looking forward to the Tomb Raider Anniversary (PS2) game that comes out on June 5th. I have 45+ PS1 games and 24+ PS2 games and 4 (disc based) PS3 games. I'm set for a while. When September hits and a slew of games start comming out, I wont have the time/money to play them all at once, but I'll probably end up buying most of them eventually. I have roughly 15 games on my list of Must Own games, and that's with only owning PS3 as my "next gen" system. In short... I dont regret buying my PS3 and I'm enjoying it tons and am looking forward to playing some great games on the system in the future.

I owned a PS3 and plan to own one again in the near future. Why did I trade it in? Why do I want another? I traded it in because Suikoden 6 and many of the other titles I like were not announced yet. I plan on buying a PS3 when more of my favorite franchises get announced. You can call me a wait it out man, but these franchises bring back some of the greatest memories ever. (Pool-side gaming with like 20 friends over, good times). Right now, however, the are no games that interest me.

I don't regret my purchase, love the 1080p movies. But here it is months and months after my purchase and I'm buying more PC games still.

The fact that I can play PS2 games still is a plus but I'll just use my PS2. Since I've got half a dozen memory cards full of save data and I'm not paying whatever it costs for the damn adapter.

I want to smack myself everytime I see the word Suikoden.  I owned 1 and 2 back in the day and I had planned on re-buying them to play but they go for alot of money now.  That's why I don't trade games in, even to upgrade now.

I own a PS3 and I only have two games, Resistance and Motorstorm. Both are quite fun and are holding me for now. Its the future I'm waiting for. There are a load of games that I want. They just arent out yet. And before anyone says if I got a 360 I would have more games, etc. Well, I wouldnt have more games. There are only two games that fit my preferences: GeOW and Forza 2. So, for me, it was either buy a PS3, an FPS and a racer, and play free online, or buy a 360, an FPS and a racer but not play online because I wouldnt pay for Xbox Live just because I'm not one to keep up with paying every so often. Monthly or yearly or whatever. I just wouldnt.

And the irony is, I get deep discounts on PS3 games using my Sony card through the website. It's true, the cows argument that they can just play Xbox 360 games on their super 'leet gaming PCs is working against them. I think they might be buying more of those than actual Playstation 3 games.

Props to TekkenMaster for at least being honest and trying to have a serious discussion about the state of PS3 software. Even though I don't have a PS3 yet, I'm waiting for the library to mature to the point that I feel the price is justified. I am really disappointed that the 360 is built so shoddy, but at the same time I would rather deal with that then to pay for a really well built console that doesn't have any games I want to play yet..

I wish there were more people here who would ask these types of questions rather than to tow ANY company line. I think the sheep are probably the worst offenders of this as the Wii library right now is TERRIBLE...The only reason I support MS here is because at the moment IMO it offers the best gaming experience for my dollar, even with XBL costing me 50 bucks a year.

On the flipside, I own over 20 Blu-Ray movies and love to fiddle around with using Linux on my Playstation 3. As well as stream data through my LocationFree unit.

Great piece of hardware the Playstation 3 is but at the end of the day, it's not like this time in 2001 where I was buying a ton of Playstation 2 software.

I used Linux for one day.  Too slow for me to get any real use out of it.  Plus, it's inconvenient to use on my current setup.  I own 5 or 6 Bluray movies.

Well... there are people like me out there that have 6 year old PC's that hardly play WoW. Heck... my PC chugs when trying to play Unreal Tournament 2004. I havn't bought a PC game since WoW first came out. I buy consoles so I dont have to upgrade every 6 months and spend hundreds. I spend hundreds once, and have a system that is guarenteed to play all the games for it forever. Now, on your other comment... about games also comming to PC. Yeah... 90% of 360's exclusives are comming to PC... and maybe 0-10% of PS3's exclusives are going to PC... but again, there are people like me who prefer consoles and a controller vs a PC, keyboard and mouse.

You know what fanboys I'm talking about...

And yeah, that's why I picked the Sony machine, WHEN those games come the experience will set itself apart from my primary gaming focus on the PC. But until then, those 'console exclusive' games are the better value for me.

Well, the PS3 is rather new. Attach rate shouldn't be as high as on the 360... and the Wii is dirt-cheap, so a higher attach rate isn't strange.

I don't remember how the 360 was at this time last year, but I'm guessing about the same..

So your reasoning for preferring consoles are the controllers adn the console set up? Last time I checked, every PC game has the ability to support gamepads and can be played on a tv from OMG TEH COUCHES.

I have three blu ray movies, zero games, but alot of demo's and downloadable content on my hard drive. Flow and MK II are alot of fun. GT HD is cool. I'm having alot of fun with just that stuff. I may get Resistance soon but Ninja Gaiden and Lair are definetly on my to-buy list.

Do you own less than 10 Playstation 3 games like me? TekkenMaster606

Let me provide what I seriously hope is the verbale equivalent of a kick in the face.

I have been playing games my whole life.  I'm old enough to have owned and played the Atari 2600...when it launched, not bought off Ebay last week. While I haven't owned every console ever made since then, I have played %99.9 percent of them enough to form an opinion.  It's what I consider I should do as a real gamer who is truly interested in gaming as a hobby and industry.

Not one single time IN MY LIFE, have I ever owned 10 games within 6 months of a console launch.  Hell, I don't think I've ever owned 10 games in a YEAR of a consoles launch.  With renting and borrowing from friends, there are options.

This is why I am begining to lose my cool when people act like how many games you buy somehow makes you more of a gamer.  Or why I find it the pinnacle of stupidity for people to act like people owning fewer games or a console having a lower attach rate must somehow reflect poorly on a console.  You know what?  I have bills and a morgage.  Frankly, I'm not going to buy ANY game unless I feel I will get my money's worth.  Anything less I can rent and beat and only be out $5.  So because it takes me over a year to buy $10 games does that mean I don't enjoy my console as much as some rich, spoiled 13 year old brat who has 30 games but cries about their possessions anyway?

Sorry to snap, but this is just getting ridiculous.  This isn't even about consoles or even fanboys anymore.  This forum is turning into little more than a d**K-measuring contest with a bunch of people to stupid to realize that being a blind consumer is NOT a reflection of your dedication or personality or even your self-perception of having hardcore gamer cred.  If I took the original post out of context (I didn't read it all) then I apologize right now.  But people seriously need to realize that just buying a bunch of stuff doesn't make you an expert on anything other than blowing money.  What matters is your appreciation for what that stuff offers and provides.  And if people are just buying crap without thinking or without any appreciation for it...then the aren't real gamers or collectors or anything else.  They are consumers.  And if this forum is a sign of what people think it takes to be considered a "gamer"...or anything for that matter...then that is really f***ing depressing.

Rosencrantz

lol don't let system wars get you down man. I know what you mean though, how do people have time to decently enjoy a game? Don't you have like work/school/uni/family whatever? Although some games now you can blow through in like 8 hrs, but still. There are only maybe 5 games in total on the PS3 I'd consider owning, whats the point of buying games that are only worth a rental?
