Worldwide hardware unit sales (increase/decrease year-on-year ):

PS2: 13.73 million units (a decrease of 0.98 million units)
PSP: 13.89 million units (an increase of 4.36 million units)
PS3: 9.24 million units (an increase of 5.63 million units)

Worldwide software unit sales (increase/decrease year-on-year ):

PS2: 154.0 million units (a decrease of 39.5 million units)
PSP: 55.5 million units (an increase of 0.8 million units)
PS3: 57.9 million units (an increase of 44.6 million units)

I favour the PS2 over Xbox 360 and PS3. It's plug in'n play gameplay, none of this 'trying to be a computer' crap.

Wait, how is the 360 and PS3 not "plug n play"? The option for computer-ish options is there, but you can ignore them if you want to.

My PS3 must go through many system updates per month, and the whole interface of both the consoles I find quite unnecessary.

How could you possibly prefer the ps2 if you want to play online? It's online is a joke.

Furthermore, updates take about 10 minutes max (on the 360), about once every two months. That's hardly an inconvenience and its purpose is to streamline the online experience.

Nooo, I meant online on the PS3, PS2 online sucked. I just feel gaming has lost it's simplicity that I found appealing in the first place.

Comparing Apr 07 thru Mar 08 vs Apr 06 thru Mar 07? WTF? Of course the yr on yr are going to be up huge...the damn thing didn't release till late '06.

I mean; it is not hard to crush the previous yr sales....when there weren't any for the first 7 months :)

Why don't you go back and play some other great exclusives instead of waiting around? BTW : This is a SLOW period for ALL CONSOLES, not just PS3.

im glad the Ps3 is picking up momentum, but really its suprising me that they are since they are doing very little advertising, purchasing big exclusives, and making sure they keep their current ones. I hope they can keep this up but id hate to see the PS3 in last place by a long shot. If it finished this race in last i wont care as long as its just trailing #2.
