Playstation 3 vs Xbox 360

I will explain the two sides of the consoles then you can give your views as to which you prefer and what you would rather buy and why.

The PS3 has a dedicated processor which was espically made for the purpose of processing game data fast and making the console responsive, it also as a powerful graphics card to fuel the high-end gaming however this is bottlenecked by the weaker CPU.

The Xbox 360 has similar specifications however the graphics card different to the way the PS3 performs to more useage is spread on the graphics card which enables the games to develop much faster.

No, both have weak hardware. My PC PWNs them both to the ground, but I still prefer the consoles to my PC :D

So see their specs don't matter

Simply put the ps3 has the technical edge while ease of programming have given the 360 the edge up to about now where they're pretty equal.

What really makes the difference for me is that the 360 is LOUD!

Wrong! PS3 has nearly a .2% fail rate compared to the 360s 35% fail rate, PS3 plays Bluray discs and 360 doesn't, PS3 has free online play 360 charges you. PS3 = 9.8/10 360 = 8.5/10.

You got it the wrong way around, ps3's cpu is bottlenecked by it's bandwidth and gpu, plus it's hard to develop for. 360 is easy to develop for and it's gpu and cpu are well in synch with each other.

Where the hell did you get 35%? Last i heard it was 15% and that was in May. And don't call the 360 and PS3 "high-end", because they aren't. High end means QuadCore and GeForce 9.

The 360 has a more powerful Graphics card. Fact

The 360 was designed to share 512mb ram across the GPU/system. The PS3 was designed to split it 50/50 (although in a bind it can share it, but at slight hit to bandwidth) Fact.

The CPU in the 360 is closer to a traditional CPU in PC's. The Cell although crunches numbers faster, is not as well suited to gaming applications. Fact.

You can have all the technical features you want in a console and it can be the easiest console to develop for... but absolute NO.1 it has to be a reliable piece of equipment. And the 360 definitely isn't that! You can say what you want... "oh it's better now, it's only 15% fail rate blah blah". But the fact is, that's still unacceptably bad!

Plus PS3 is a fantastic console. It has Blu-ray, free PSN, great games line-up, and it's reliable!

So IMO, PS3 wins...

Every person is going to have a different view on which console is better. Some say that 360 has better hardware, others say PS3 does. Some will like the 360's games lineup, other PS3s.

But personally, I think the 360 failure rate is just unacceptable! I know it killed my liking of the Xbox brand. Hopefully it will be reserected next gen.

both consoles, power wise, are pretty much the same.

game wise, now it is a matter of opinion.

reliability wise, the ps3 wins easily.

I got a ps3 because my 360 died of the rrod and i was not prepared to invest in broken hardware.

Ummm... the vast majority of games run at 720 on both the 360 and the ps3. however, the ps3 has more 1080 games than the 360. 

and the 360 hardware is trash. fun whilst it lasts trash, but still trash.

360 has no disc loading, a fan like a leaf blower , a disc drive that scratches your games , rrod ect, ect

You are right, the vast majority. But there isn't a single game on the PS3 that runs at a higher res than its counterpart on the 360. On the other hand, GTA4, Far Cry 2 BioShock, a bunch of games are rendered in a lower res on the PS3 to keep the framerates up. You might have more 1080 games (proof plz) but who cares, it's all the crap arcade games.

So the 360 hardware may be trash, but it's better than what Sony is packing.

That's ok, a few multiplat games prove that the Xbox is faster. That's all I need to see.

Tell me what games are 1080p native on the PS3. No major titles, just the crap you get off the online store.

Maybe, I don't really notice it, but if it needs to cool it needs to cool, nothing I can do. Scratched cd's & rrod's happen, and the 360 may have a larger share in that than other consoles. Oh well. It's still better ;)

I admit the 360 is louder, and isn't as reliable hardware wise. You admit that the 360 has better game performance, and library (and don't forget live). Then we can walk away happy.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the darkness runs at (drumroll please) 960x540 on PS3, and 1280x720 on the 360.

So, the rest of your post require far too much fact checking, and seriously, just because you're upscaling from a low res to 1080p output, doesn't mean the game native res is 1080p. 

my opinion is - 360 for good games or PS3 for the whole lot and extras such as wifi, media stuff

So if you was presented with both consoles for free, and after considdering the game line up and the specifications and history of the consoles which would you choose?

my "opinion" is I like the Look of the Ps3, reliability, exclusives, controller, the blu-ray movies, there technical specs with Blue-tooth/USB usage, media, free online, and there library of games from PSX/PS2 (If you have a 60GB), and the fact you could play PsX/Download games on your PsP.

I just feel Sony is more Innovative in what they do or should I say more Mature.... not sure, but thats my opinion. Wouldn't mind another console, but I'm not paying for all there accessories and unreliable console. I love games and that what counts...or atleast should count. :|
